When the Pirates DFA'd Jack Taschner last week, I expected that he would clear through waivers and would pick up some innings in AAA-Indianapolis. I fully expected him to be in the Majors, though, at some other point during this season.Turns out that will not be the case as Taschner told his hometown paper that he has declined the Pirates' offer to report to AAA and will have to be either traded, placed on waivers, or released. The latter would be my guess.In the article, Taschner talks about how he doesn't understand the Pirates' decision to DFA him citing that when he was called upon in close games, he did his job.He actually does have a valid point there. His 6.05 ERA is not good by any means. But his 4.15 xFIP shows he has pitched better than his ERA shows. The Pirates have been blown out in a lot of games this season.
