Found May 20, 2013 on RotoStars.com:
Rookie Jake Odorizzi, one of the top pitching prospects for the Tampa Rays, will take the rotation spot of David Price, and take the mound tonight against the Toronto Blue Jays. Odorizzi, who was part of the James Shields trade, is 4-0 with a 3.83 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 44 2/3 innings for Triple A affiliate Durham. Odorizzi beat out other prospects Chris Archer and Alex Colome to win the rotation vacated when Price went on the disabled list. Odorizzi started two games last year for the Royals and posted a pedestrian 4.90 ERA and a 1.63 WHIP. Those numbers should not discourage or reflect upon the potential of Odorizzi who is a high-strikeout pitcher. This year in Triple A, he’s struck out 47 over 44 2/23 innings. Odorizzi will also be a two-start pitcher for the week. Dynasty/keeper formats, he has more value but owners could do far worse this week. But he may be a better grab and stash and take a wait and see approach on him.

Odorizzi, not Archer, replaces Price in the rotation

That assumption would prove to be wrong as the team has selected Jake Odorizzi to fill the vacant starting rotation spot. Odorizzi, who was acquired from Kansas City in the offseason in the James Shields trade, carries some major league experience. He posts...

Matt Moore: Tampa Bay Rays becomes youngest lefty to start 8-0 since 1917

Matt Moore is making quite a name for himself early in the 2013 season. The 23-year-old lefty improved to 8-0 on Sunday as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Baltimore Orioles 3-1. In doing so, Moore became the youngest left-handed pitcher to start a season 8-0 since Babe Ruth did it as a 22-year-old in 1917. Buck Showalter, Joe Maddon Both Argue Call as Replay Awards Home Run to Matt Joyce (Video)

While MLB grapples with the idea of expanding instant replay in the wake of a series of umpiring gaffes, the oddities in its current replay policy were thoroughly exposed on Sunday afternoon. During the top of the sixth inning, the Rays’ Matt Joyce hit what umpires initially ruled as a double to right field. After the ruling on the field, both Orioles manager Buck Showalter and...

Correction: Rays-Orioles story

In a story May 19 about the Tampa Bay Rays' 3-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, The Associated Press, using information from the Orioles' game notes, reported erroneously that 23-year-old Matt Moore is the youngest lefty to start the season 8-0 since Babe Ruth in 1917. Moore is the youngest left-handed American League pitcher used exclusively as a starter to start 8-0...

Nobody saw this: In the AL East, this season could become a two-team NY-Boston blood feud.

This was supposed to be the year NY and Boston sat out the AL East. Instead, the season resembles an early 2000's burner - Yanks/Redsocks, and then the East Division tomato cans.Without Jose Reyes, Toronto looks like - well - Toronto. Over the winter, Baltimore and Tampa flat-lined. After his third year, Showalter's act starts to fray. Worse, the O's didn't improve...
