With a win in Monday’s first game of the four game Battle of the Bay series, the A’s and Giants faced off again Tuesday night. Again it was the A’s that came out victorious, this time by the final score of 6-3.
Following a string of three quality starts by second-year pitcher Jarrod Parker, the A’s righty struggled in the first inning of Game 2 of the Battle of the Bay. Parker had allowed just six runs in his previous 20 1/3 innings of work over his past three starts, but looked like he may have a short outing this time.
Parker’s struggles in the first inning saw him need 26 pitches to finally escape the frame, but settled down nicely after that.
Following a strikeout by lead-off hitter Gregor Blanco to get the game started, Marco Scutaro singled on a line drive to center to get an early Giants’ rally going.
