And the winner is Hov………again
Jay-Z has always said he isn’t a “businessman”, he’s a BUSINESS man. He is proven that by turning the skill of rapping, into a half a billion enterprise.
According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Jay-Z has partnered with CAA (Creative Artists Agency) one of the most powerful agency in the world, so don’t expect another Master P situation. Roc Nation Sports will be its own separate company, with Jay-Z himself planning to be a certified agent.
Robinson Cano who left Super Agent Scott Boras will be initially be represented by CAA Sports baseball group. This was well thought and planned by Jaz-Z and Roc Nation. Not something they went into lightly.
Jay-Z would have to give up ownership of the Nets to represent NBA players, but that is something he is open to. It is all about expanding your brand and Jay-Z has done a brilliant job of that, so no reason to believe this won’t be successful as well.
BEST OF MAXIM
WHAT CAN'T HE DO?
Jay-Z reportedly has opened a sports representation agency named Roc Nation Sports, and his first client is Yankees star Robinson Cano.
The big question, now that second baseman Robinson Cano has hired CAA and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports as his new agents, is whether the switch means that the New York Yankees stand a better chance of signing him.
Brodie Van Wagenen, who will be Cano’s primary baseball agent for CAA, didn’t answer that question directly in an interview with FOXSports.com on Tuesday night...
Robinson Cano has switched agents, leaving behind a man known to push teams’ bidding as high as it can go in free agency.
With Scott Boras out of the picture and Cano working with CAA Sports, which is partnering with Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation Sports, all signs now seem to point toward Cano staying with the Yankees and possibly signing an extension this year.

Being connected to rapper Jay-Z could mean dollars upon dollars in one’s bank account. Add that to his pull of being from New York and you have yourself set to [...]
Shawn Carter, better known as Jay-Z, has announced a new full-service sports management company within his entertainment company, Roc Nation, called Roc Nation Sports.
Roc Nation Sports has partnered with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), a leading entertainment and sports agency, and has already signed their first client — Yankees star Robinson Cano. Cano, a four-time MLB All-Star...
Apparently Jay-Z has gotten bored with being a part owner of the Brooklyn Nets and decided that he needed another sporting endeavor. It’s unclear whether he himself will be a Sports Agent, or if he is merely the owner of the Agency, but he has already snagged a big client.
I was surprised to see that New York Yankees 2nd baseman Robinson Cano fired his super agent Scott Boras...
New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano is changing agents as he nears the biggest decision of his career.
Cano, who can become a free agent at the end of the season, is hiring Creative Artists Agency to replace Scott Boras, according to major league sources.
CAA's baseball clients San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey and right-hander Matt Cain, Milwaukee Brewers...
The players' union has granted Jay-Z temporary limited certification to serve as a baseball agent. But his path to formal, permanent certification will not be a simple process.
Rick Shapiro, senior adviser to the union, said Wednesday that Jay-Z was one of three representatives from his company, Roc Nation, to receive temporary limited certification.
Roc Nation Sports, a division...
Scott Boras has lost his touch.First, it was Alex Rodriguez who told the agent his services would no longer be needed. Then Mark Teixeira showed him the door. Now Robinson Cano has kicked Scott Boras to the curb and, if you believe the media reports, didn't even show the common courtesy of pointing the curb out to him before-hand.For so many years, all you ever heard was how...
Scott Boras hit it big with a massive contract extension for Elvis Andrus on Monday, but he won't get the chance to do the same with Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano. Cano fired Boras today, and has signed with Roc Nation Sports, a new agency under Jay-Z's Roc Nation umbrella that's partnering with the more-traditional CAA Sports.
Unlike Boras, CAA has a history...
The big news of the morning is that Robinson Cano has fired Scott Boras as his agent, and is joining a newly created wing of the CAA group that will be led by hip hop artist Jay-Z. I don’t pretend to know anything about hip hop artists and their geographical biases, so I’ll just go along with the consensus that hiring Jay-Z as his agent is a pretty good sign that Cano wants...
