Some thought Travis Snider, not Anthony Gose, would get the call up from Class AAA Las Vegas when the Toronto Blue Jays put Jose Bautista on the disabled list with a wrist injury. Among them was Gose himself. "I would have said Travis," Gose said Tuesday before Toronto's 6-1 loss to the New York Yankees. "He has been here, he has worked hard, he's had a great season. He has battled injuries, came back, been strong for the team, been a team leader throughout the year, and I would have just said Travis Snider." Gose, a brilliant center fielder, hit .292 with five homers, 10 triples, 41 RBI and 29 stolen bases in 39 attempts for Las Vegas. He had an .808 on-base-plus-slugging percentage. Snider, who has become a good left fielder, is batting .320 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, two stolen bases in six attempts and an OPS of .954. But it was Gose, who at 21 is three years younger than Snider, who made his major league debut when he grounded out to shortstop...

Welcome To The Bigs, Kid: Anthony Gose

On Monday Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays left the game after feeling pain in his wrist on an eighth-inning swing that produced a long foul ball. X-rays were negative but an MRI the following day revealed inflammation. At about the same time Anthony Gose a top prospect in the Blue Jays organization was playing for AAA Las Vegas. He was immediately pulled from the game...

Do the Blue Jays have the most interesting trade chip?

The Toronto Blue Jays are in an odd place right now in the AL East. At 45-45, they're 10.5 games out of the division lead, and that margin is growing daily. However, Toronto just just two games out of the second wild card berth, currently held by the Detroit Tigers. But with Jose Bautista's wrist injury knocking him out of action for at least 15 days (and possibly more...

Post-hype Hope: Travis Snider

It wasn't long ago that Travis Snider was considered one of the top hitting prospects in all of baseball.  Hitting .248/.307/.423 in 877 plate appearances, as a corner outfielder that's not considered an asset defensively, isn't a good way to hold a starting job in the majors.  After losing a battle for the left field job in the spring, the Blue Jays organization decided...

Blue Jays place Bautista (wrist) on DL

The Blue Jays placed Jose Bautista on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his left wrist. Bautista injured his wrist in Monday's game at Yankee Stadium. The Blue Jays didn't provide detailed results of an MRI exam and the timetable for his return is unknown. Bautista was tied for second in baseball with 27 home runs. Toronto called up 21-year-old outfielder...

Jose Bautista is Placed on the DL

Jose Bautista aka Joey Bats(Photo courtesy of ESPN) The Toronto Blue Jays’ superstar right fielder, Jose Bautista, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with left wrist inflammation. As of now, Jose Bautista currently...

Blue Jays put Jose Bautista on DL

Jose Bautista has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation in his left wrist and the Toronto Blue Jays have called up outfielder Anthony Gose from Triple-A Las Vegas. In a news release Tuesday, the Blue Jays did not give a timetable for Bautista's return. The All-Star slugger was scheduled for an MRI after leaving Monday night's loss to the New York Yankees...

Blue Jays' Bautista to remain on DL

Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista is not expected to return immediately when his time on the 15-day disabled list concludes Wednesday. He swung the bat Saturday for the first time since injuring his left wrist Bautista, who led the majors in home runs in both 2010 and 2011, was hurt in the eighth inning of a July 16 game at Yankee Stadium, grabbing his wrist in pain after hitting...

Gose gets call up to Toronto

The first week of action following the MLB All-Star break has been unkind to players and fantasy owners. The Twitter-verse nearly reached its breaking point on Monday night, as three prominent sluggers sustained injuries. The losses of Jose Bautista, Joey Votto and David Ortiz (he was rounding the bases!) sent fantasy owners scrambling for replacements and cursing their impediments...

Yankees 6, Blue Jays 1

Jose Bautista was worried his injury was worse. The star slugger landed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday but was relieved to learn there's no structural damage in his ailing left wrist. He thinks he could return to Toronto's lineup as soon as he's eligible, though manager John Farrell said it's too early to tell. ''The last thing that we want is to push...

Blue Jays basher Bautista to DL

Blue Jays basher Jose Bautista was placed on the 15-day DL Tuesday thanks to injuring his left wrist against the Bronx Bombers on Monday night. After a slow start to the 2012 campaign, the All-Star outfielder had been on fire since May 16, hitting .277 with 19 homers, 46 RBI and a .388 OBP in that span. Bautista heads to the sidelines with 27 bombs, second-most in the majors this...

New York Yankees: Team details

YANKEE STADIUM 2012 The New York Yankees (57-34) continued their domination yesterday afternoon with a 6-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays, completing a three-game sweep of their AL East rivals. The Jays literally left the Bronx limping, as slugger Jose Bautista was placed on the 15-DL with wrist inflammation; and third baseman Brett Lawrie suffered a right calf contusion (bad bruise...

Toronto Blue Jays get swept by Yankees

Jose Bautista is on the 15-day disabled list after injuring his left wrist on Monday. The Toronto Blue Jays kicked off their series against the New York Yankees on Monday night with a 6-3 loss. Votto, Bautista injured; Halladay, Sabathia return

Joey Votto needs knee surgery, and Jose Bautista is out with a wrist injury. Two of baseball's best hitters were sidelined in a matter of hours Monday, one night before a pair of top pitchers are slated to return to the mound. Roy Halladay and CC Sabathia are both set to come off the disabled list Tuesday - and the way things are shaping up this summer, pennant races all over...

Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix, July 17, 2012: Injuries to Joey Votto, Jose Bautista and David Ortiz

After going through a rough stretch Lance Lynn resumed his dominant early season ways in last night's game against the Brewers.  Lynn pitched 7.0 innings of one run ball and rung up 10, although he only came away with a no decision in the Cards win. Miguel Montero and Mark Reynolds had almost identical nights for their respective teams.  Montero went 3-4 with a HR and...
