Toronto Blue Jays lefthander Brett Cecil was scratched from Friday night's start against the New York Yankees with a cut on a finger on his throwing hand. Cecil is 0-5 in eight starts since his last win July 29 vs. Texas. Overall, he is 4-9 with a 4.37 ERA in 18 starts. Cecil will be replaced by Dustin McGowan, who made his first start of the season Sunday vs. Baltimore and gave up four runs, three hits and five walks in three innings. The Yankees (90-58) lead the American League East by 4 1/2 games over Boston and have a magic number of 7 to clinch a playoff berth for the 16th time in the last 17 seasons.
