On July 5th, 2013, Jered Weaver and his wife Kristin brought a new life into the world. The Weaver’s welcomed their new born son Aden. As the couple brought in a new life, they decided to honor a past life as well. Aden was named after the late Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart. About four years ago, tragedy struck the Adenhart family, Weaver family, and the Angels organization. Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver hours after throwing six scoreless innings against the Oakland Athletics. He was 22 years old. Nick’s death impacted Jered and the rest of his Angels teammates significantly. The memory of Nick Adenhart is displayed every start that Jered Weaver makes. Jered draws “NA” in the dirt behind the pitcher’s mound before his starts. Jered also stays in contact with the Adenhart’s family. The memory of Nick is no longer just a momentary display on the baseball field. His memory is now part of the Weaver’s everyday life. This story just screams awesome. It’s great to...

Angels fall, listlessly, to the Woeful Cubs, 7-2

It was as if a fairy tale had come to a shuddering, depressing, fiery end. Joe Blanton, bringer of home runs, feigning effectiveness as a major league starting pitcher the past few weeks, decided to lay a new rotten egg. The latest trick of his was to surrender four home runs to the second-to-last-place Cubs. It's difficult to put into words just how badly the Blanton signing...
