Tigers pitcher Jeremy Bonderman admitted yesterday that the thought of retirement has crossed his mind on multiple occasions. His four year, $38 million deal ends after this season. Bondo is only 27 years old, but he's been through a lot. Jeremy became the first U.S.-born player drafted after his junior year of high school. He earned a G.E.D. and bypassed college to sign with the A's. He became the PTBNL (played to be named later) in a deal that sent him to Detroit.
In his rookie year at age 20, he went 6-19 and was jockeyed around so as to not get the dubious 20th loss. Since then, Bondo has never really lived up to what scouts thought he would. His best year was in 2006 when he went 14-8 with a 4.08 ERA and 202 whiffs in 214 innings.
