Phils’ shortstop Jimmy Rollins have just won his fourth Gold Glove Award. Jimmy, who have won previous gold gloves in 2007-09, with his win is now ranked third in franchise history with the most gold gloves won by a Phil, trailing only Mike Schmidt (10) and Garry Maddos (8). During the season, Rollins, who continued to be an outstanding defensive player, only batted .250, with a .427 Slugging Percentage and a very low .316 On-Base Percentage (.743 OPS), as he went 158 for 632, including 33 doubles, 5 triples and 23 home runs, knocking in 68 runs, while scoring 102 times, as he appeared in 156 games. He also had 30 stolen bases, being caught only 5 times during the season. Carlos Ruiz missed winning a gold glove as he was beaten out by the Cardinals’ Yadier Molina.

Rollins Wins Fourth Gold Glove

Bob Brookover is reporting that Jimmy Rollins has won his fourth Gold Glove in six seasons. Rollins won three-in-a-row from 2007-2009 with the Phils.

Phillies' Jimmy Rollins Wins Rawlings Gold Glove Award at Shortstop

While the season itself ended up tumultuous at times for Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, he has had a number of personal accomplishments to show for it.   Earlier in the season Rollins beat out Larry Bowa to top the games played at shortstop list in Phillies history.  Then, Rollins picked up his 2000th career hit.   Now, Jimmy Rollins has won another Rawlings Gold Glove award...

Phillies Player Review: Jimmy Rollins

Having just won his fourth Gold Glove award, this player review could not come at a better time for Jimmy Rollins, a man who could use a few positives in his corner. That’s because 2012 was one of the more contentious between Rollins and the fans. Rollins once again drew criticism when he became the focal point for a city-wide debate on if and when it’s ever appropriate for a...

Phillies Player Review: Josh Lindblom

Josh Lindblom has limited righties to a .191 batting average in two seasons. The Phillies’ bullpen was a disaster in 2012, placing 21st in ERA (3.94) and 29th in eighth-inning ERA (4.89). The ‘pen blew 19 saves — 11 more than their 2011 total. And it lost 27 games after losing just 18 in 2011. So it made sense that when the Phillies were set to unload Shane Victorino and Hunter...

Phillies Player Review: Chad Qualls

I was very tempted to make this a joke review. I wouldn’t have written an intro or offered any insight and would have instead simply left a bolded “Grade F… no explanation needed.” Qualls was the most maligned Phillies player this season and was out the door by the end of June. He blew a number of games in a limited amount of time and his entrances became associated with...

Phillies already moving on to 2013

The Philadelphia Phillies have spent the week putting their 2013 plans into place. General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. and the Phillies picked up the $5 million 2013 option on Carlos Ruiz and declined options on utility man Ty Wigginton and reliever Jose Contreras. Contreras was owed $2.5 million and Wigginton was due $4 million. Each played received a $500,000 buyout. The Phillies...

Ruiz to return to Phillies; Polanco, Wiggington and Contreras have options declined

Carlos Ruiz posted career highs in batting average, doubles, HRs and RBI. The Phillies announced Monday that the club will pick up his $5 million option for 2013. The Phillies catcher was also announced as a finalist for the NL Gold Glove. The Philadelphia Phillies made some unsurprising roster moves on Monday. Most of the moves seemed like only formalities and were foregone conclusions...

The Phils have accepted Carlos Ruiz’s option for 2013, declined options on Placido Polanco, Jose Contreras and Ty Wigginton.

The Phils have earlier this week (Monday) announced that they have accepted Carlos Ruiz’s $5 million dollar option for 2013, so he’ll be staying with the ballclub for at least another season. Carlos, who played in 114 games, thanks in part to being on the DL twice during the season, had a .325 batting average (121 for 372) with a .935 OPS, as he had 32 doubles and 16 home runs...

Analyzing The Phillies: Vance Worley

Categories: BREAKING NEWS News PhilliesTags: PhilliesVance Worley2012 Expectations Vance Worley was expected to be a dependable fourth starter in the pitching rotation. The 25-year old was a major surprise in the 2011 season, compiling an 11-3 record with an ERA of 3.01. Injuries to Roy Oswalt and Joe Blanton created an opportunity for Worley to prove he belonged in the big leagues...

The Hot Stove: My Phillies Offseason Wish List

Alright guys, it's two days into the offseason and I'm already going through baseball withdrawl. The offseason is the time to make moves that teams couldn't make during the season. Acquisitions will be easier as free agents are the prominent target for teams. Although trades can take place as well, I'll be looking at my top five free-agents on my wishlist today....
