During Brian Cashman's press conference earlier today, he said that he expects Joba to be in the rotation throughout the '09 season. Cashman also said that he sees Hideki as a DH and Damon as an outfielder going forward. from rotoworld.com: Yankees GM Brian Cashman said Wednesday that he expects Joba Chamberlain to be a starter throughout 2009. Cashman stated a month ago that Chamberlain would likely return to the pen initially under a plan much like this year's. However, young pitchers have a history of breaking down when being moved from the bullpen to the rotation midseason and it wouldn't be too much trouble to manage Joba's innings as a starter. This is clearly the right move. Yankees GM Brian Cashman said he sees Hideki Matsui as a DH and Johnny Damon as an outfielder going forward. Both have volunteered to play first base, but it appears that the Yankees will look for external replacement for Jason Giambi. Mark Teixeira is almost certainly at the top of their list.
