Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon did not like the way the Detroit Tigers reacted when closer Fernando Rodney pitched high and inside to Miguel Cabrera Saturday night. That reaction — and retaliation — came Sunday when Tigers’ pitcher Rick Porcello hit Rays’ Ben Zobrist in the shoulder in the first inning of the game. That retaliation was in addition to Cabrera mouthing off at the Rays’ dugout Friday night, which Maddon called him a crybaby for during Sunday’s post game sit-down with the media. This guy [Miguel Cabrera] is outstanding, he’s wonderful. I just wish he wouldn’t cry so much. Maddon added more salt to Detroit’s wounds by pointing out that the Tigers didn’t react the same way when their shortstop Jhonny Peralta saw a pitch high and inside. “If I’m Jhonny Peralta, I’m upset,” he said. There won’t be another meeting between the two sides this season. Which if they were scheduled to play, the video below of Cabrera and Rodney would serve as a reminder — or a headline for the matchup.
