The Minnesota Twins traveled back home to Target field after a terrible ten game road trip as they play host to the Seattle Mariners for four games at Target Field starting tonight at 7:10 pm CT.  With Joe Mauer slated as the starting catcher tonight, he will break Earl Battey’s Twins’ record for all-time games caught. Mauer has had an interesting career as catcher for the Twins as he has struggled with injury.  However, this year, Mauer has been nothing but healthy and is hitting .312 with a .407 on base percentage through 118 games.  Part of the reason that some believe he has stayed healthy has been his shift from everyday catcher to playing first base and designated hitter every now and then.  He has started at first 25 games, catcher 58 games, and has DH’d the rest.  Mauer has been the rock of this team for the past eight seasons, no matter what position he has played.
