The Toronto Blue Jays have hired John Gibbons as their manager, as reported in the wee hours of the morning by Bob Elliott. Gibbons managed Toronto from 2004 to 2008, finishing with a 305-305 record and finishing out of the division's basement in each of the three full seasons he managed the team (his 2004 stint was just 50 games, and he was fired 74 games into the 2008 season). However, there was plenty of tumult during Gibbons' first tenure with the team, as he got into very public spats with Shea Hillenbrand, Ted Lilly, and Frank Thomas during his tenure with the club. I'd be a little worried if I were a Blue Jays fan. When you have a manager that has had a history of being outspoken like Gibbons, adding players like Jose Reyes and Melky Cabrera might lead to strife in the clubhouse with Gibbons involved. Also, this is the second "retread" manager hired by the Blye Jays in recent years after bringing in former Jays manager Cito Gaston to replace Gibbons in 2008.  This could be very interesting for the Blue Jays, but they could have done a lot worse with a Jim Tracy or Jim Riggleman type.
