It’s no secret that John Lackey hasn’t performed up to expectations with the Red Sox. However, the big right-hander isn’t backing down from the challenge of reestablishing himself in Boston’s baseball hotbed.
Lackey showed up early to Fort Myers, now 16 months removed from Tommy John surgery. He was photographed on Tuesday already working off a mount alongside Daniel Bard and Jon Lester, and the early reports on Lackey are encouraging. Not only do his mechanics look better, but the 34-year-old is said to be throwing free and easy in the ‘pen.
