Red Sox lefty Jon Lester stumbled for the first time this season on Monday night against the White Sox, suffering his first lost since September 26, 2012. Lester allowed six Chicago runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks over six innings in the Red Sox’ 6-4 loss.
The Sox had to try and claw their way out of a 3-0 hole after the first inning, and Lester chalks his struggles up to the fact that he’s never played well against the White Sox.
Hear what else Lester had to say in the video above, or check it out on NESN’s YouTube channel.

2012 is a year that most fans and Red Sox players wish they could permanently erase from their memories for so many reasons. The mindset of everyone in Boston was that this 2013 season would be a fresh start with a clean slate to start the year and hoping that there would be no overlap between last season and this one.
Jon Lester is no exception...
It seemed like every time that Boston Red Sox starter Jon Lester put people on with two outs, it would cost him. Well it did as the Chicago White Sox took advantage and held off the visiting nine in a 6-4 win at U.S. Cellular Field on the south side of Chicago on Monday night.

It’s probably a safe bet that Jon Lester isn’t singing Sweet Home Chicago whenever the Red Sox southpaw gets set to toe the mound against the White Sox.
In nine career starts against the Chicago South Siders, Lester is 4-5 with a 5.43 ERA.
Last night at U.S. Cellular Field Lester didn’t stray far from the...
3 p.m. ET: A little road swing through Tampa, Minnesota and Chicago appears to be just what the doctor ordered for the stumbling Red Sox, who have bagged five wins in a row so far.
Tonight, the Red Sox (27-17) open a three-game series on the South Side of Chicago, where they’ll visit the White Sox (19-23). Boston is looking to keep the wins rolling and also put some runs behind...
Not even a lengthy delay can slow down the Boston Red Sox' run.
No team has been able to stop Jon Lester's streak of winning decisions.
He'll try to become the first Red Sox left-handed starter in 40 seasons to open 7-0 - and help Boston win a sixth in a row - on Monday night against the host Chicago White Sox.

Well it was bound to happen, Jon Lester finally lost his first game of the season. Lester gave up 5 runs in the first two innings of the game and then recovered but the offense was never able to get going. The White Sox snapped the Red Sox 5 game winning streak and won the first game of the series of the battle of the Sox in Chicago. Here are the...
The White Sox are doing their damage with two outs on Monday night, meaning that once again, timely hitting is not working to the Red Sox’ advantage.
After scuffling with runners in scoring position at times last week, the Red Sox now seem to have found difficulty in getting that final out of the inning. Jon Lester is then left in more trouble than he’d like, as his team faces...
Jon Lester had an off night and the Boston Red Sox (27-18) fell in the opening game of their road series against the Chicago White Sox (20-23). Tonight, the Red Sox turn to Felix Doubront (3-1, 6.03 ERA) to try to even the series. The lefty walked six batters in his last start against Tampa Bay and is allowing opponents to hit .307 against him this...
It seems like a miracle. The Red Sox pitchers who completely lost focus somewhere before the infamous 2011 September collapse are not only back on track, but are pitching better than ever. Jon Lester is 6-1. Clay Buchholz is 6-0. Sure, there are some kinks that still need to be worked out, but Red Sox pitching is leagues ahead of where it was last...
Adam Dunn hit a three-run homer in the first inning and the Chicago White Sox handed Jon Lester his first loss of the season with a 6-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night.
Alejandro De Aza and Alexei Ramirez added consecutive RBI doubles in the second as Chicago took advantage of an ineffective Lester (6-1) to earn its fifth win in seven games in the opener of an eight...
The Windy City was unkind to the Red Sox on Monday, as they came up just short in their comeback bid against the White Sox. Will Middlebrooks had a chance to tie the game up, but his home run bid died on the warning track, and any hope of Boston winning did as well.
Still, Jon Lester and the (Red) Sox were time and time again just one pitch or one batter away from getting out of...
