Jonathan Sanchez says he's ready to help the Kansas City Royals get back to the playoffs. The longtime San Francisco Giants left-hander was dealt to the Royals earlier this week along with a minor league pitcher for outfielder Melky Cabrera. Sanchez visited Kauffman Stadium on a blustery Thursday morning, chatting with team officials and meeting with members of the media. Sanchez says he's been the subject of trade rumors since reaching the big leagues in 2006, and he knew that he'd be sent somewhere else eventually. He's happy to land with the Royals, who are considered a franchise on the rise. Kansas City will field one of the youngest lineups in baseball next season.

The Yankees were never in on Jonathan Sanchez

Yesterday, Jon Heyman tweeted that the Yankees were disappointed that Jonathan Sanchez went to the Royals. Apparently (with a tip of the cap to Giants Win), that’s not the case: The Yankees’ prime directive this winter is adding pitching, but they were never in on trade talks for lefty Jonathan Sanchez, who the Giants traded to the Kansas City earlier this week for Melky...

Kansas City Royals Pitchers: Fantasy Gold

Earlier in the week I discussed the Royals and Giants deal which saw Jonathan Sanchez head to Kansas City, and mentioned that it helped address their need for pitching. A team can never have too much pitching, but the need for it in Kansas City may not be as great as it appears on the surface. A couple of emerging starters, a second year starter, some prospects that aren't...

Sanchez says trade to Royals was no surprise

The way left-handed pitcher Jonathan Sanchez views it, when looking over his shoulder, the trade that sent him to the Royals earlier this week from the San Francisco Giants was just a matter of time. "I saw it coming," he said during a pause in his physical examination Thursday at Kauffman Stadium.

Giants Swap Jonathan Sanchez for Melky Cabrera

Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore did what most fantasy baseball owners should do as well when it comes to trading, dealing from an area of strength in trading outfielder Melky Cabrera who had a career year in 2011 for starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez of the San Francisco Giants. Sanchez gives the Royals a quality starter that, while he still struggles with his control...

Name These Pitchers

Taking away the names and just looking at the numbers can be an interesting game to play. Can you name these two pitchers who happen to have similar peripheral stats?
