Baseball America released the list of their Top 100 prospects entering the 2024 season. Only one Diamondbacks prospect made their list, shortstop Jordan Lawlar.

Lawlar broke into the big leagues just two seasons after getting selected with the sixth overall selection of the 2021 MLB Draft. While he struggled in his big league cameo, he still ranks high on the list, earning the No. 7 spot. Lawlar is the consensus top prospect in the D-backs system entering the 2024 season, with a combination of future upside and close arrival time. He is expected to take over the shortstop position long-term, but it could happen as early as this year. He'll be competing with a Geraldo Perdomo and Kevin Newman platoon this spring at the shortstop position.

The list did not include outfielder Druw Jones and infielder Tommy Troy, who were on the Top 100 list at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Jones and Troy are the D-backs last two first-round selections and rank as the second and third best prospects in the system. Jones is coming off a down year that was marred by injuries and was limited to 31 games in Class A. Troy will be entering his first full season in the system with a chance to make a name for himself in 2024.

Baseball America is one of three Top 100 lists that Major League Baseball uses for the Prospect Promotion Incentive. Players who place in the Top 100 for two of Baseball America, MLB (January 26th), and ESPN that have less than 60 days of service time at the start of the 2024 season are eligible. Last season Corbin Carroll and Brandon Pfaadt were the two prospects that qualified, with Carroll earning the D-backs the 31st selection in the 2024 MLB Draft for winning Rookie of the Year.
