Jose Reyes, who hit .337 this season and was the first Met to ever win the NL batting title, has been selected as the Mets nominee for the 2011 Hank Aaron Award.
The award is given to the top player in each league. One player from each team is always nominated. Like the batting title, if Reyes wins, he would be the first Met to ever win the Hank Aaron Award.

Sorry for cramming all the latest on Jose Reyes in one post, but I think it makes it easier to sort through and debate. Here are some interesting items of note.
The Hudgens Effect
On Mets.com, Anthony DiComo credits Mets hitting coach Dave Hudgens with some of Reyes’ success this season.
Shortly after arriving in Port St. Lucie, Fla., for Spring Training in February, Jose Reyes...
Former Met Rico Brogna, who now blogs for WFAN CBS Sports, had some keen insights on the rise of Jose Reyes over the years from an energetic kid to the impending free agent he is today. In the end though, his opinion is that the Mets should not re-sign him.
Personally, after scouting Reyes and the Mets for many recent years, I would let Jose go and let him hit the market. I have...
The 2011 season has mercifully come to an end for the Mets, giving way to a barrage of major questions that Mets fans are asking. Will they re-sign Reyes? Will they bring the outfield walls in closer? Will they find a way to make the Shake Shack line go faster? While these questions all deal with the future, I have one about the past: Was the 2011 season a step in the right direction...
Jose Reyes is the Mets nominee for the 2011 Hank Aaron Award.
The Hank Aaron Award, which was introduced by Major League Baseball in 1999, is given to the top performer in each league. Reyes, who won the National League Batting Title with a .337, earned his first nomination for the award. If he wins, he would be the first Met to ever win the award.
2011 wasn't a great offensive year for the Giants, and that's the team's biggest problem heading into the offseason.
But we can still look back at Pablo Sandoval's resurgent season last year and smile, plus hope that he ends up winning the Hank Aaron Award.
As it stands, he's the Giants nominee for the Aaron Award, which recognizes the best offensive player in...
Things are quiet, but I’m wondering what your biggest concerns are about the Mets as sit here in the calm before the storm. Is it Jose Reyes? David Wright? Jason Bay? Johan Santana‘s shoulder? The ballpark? Next year’s 50th anniversary celebrations? Ownership’s legal issues? The training staff? I mean, there are no shortage of things to worry about. What tops your list? One...
Miguel Cabrera came close to winning the Hank Aaron Award and American League MVP honors in 2010. He lost out in both. His numbers this year aren't going to make the same case they did last year, but he might have actually had a stronger season.
There is no better candidate on the Reds for the Hank Aaron Award than the man that won it for the National League after last season -- Joey Votto.
Curtis Granderson's big season earned him the Yankees' nomination for the Hank Aaron Award, given to the league's top overall offensive performer.
Okay folks as promised here is the Who Stays, Who Goes pitchers division for the New York Mets. The 2011 Mets were woeful tossing a baseball from sixty feet six inches which is why the front office is thinking long and hard (that’s what she said, I miss Michael Gary Scott) about going overboard in signing Jose Reyes to long term, big money deal. Better to use the Reyes money towards...
Cameron Maybin, the Padres' nominee for the Hank Aaron Award, has surpassed expectations in his first season with the team -- not just with his bat, but with his glove and feet, as well.
Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen's breakout season earned him a spot as one of the finalists for the Hank Aaron Award, an annual honor given to the top hitter in each league.
Left fielder Alex Gordon reaped another reward for a breakthrough season Monday afternoon when he was selected as the Royals' nominee for the Hank Aaron Award, which seeks to recognize the most outstanding offensive performer in each league.
The deadline for for fans to renew their season tickets for next season is November 7, Mets EVP of Business Operations Dave Howard said on a conference call with bloggers last night.
According to Howard Megdal, last season the deadline for renewal was December 15.
Also yesterday, the Mets said they are ditching the multi-level pricing system they have used in the past; and instead...
