Tabata was hitting .265/.351/.354 before his injury.
The Pirates made it official today and sent OF Jose Tabata to the disabled list with a quad strain. There were some reports from the past couple of days that Tabata may actually avoid a DL stint, but the Bucs felt otherwise.
Josh Harrison, who was just optioned before the Boston series will rejoin the club. MLB rules state that the Pirates would have had to wait 10 days before calling Harrison back up, but since Tabata was injured, it is allowed.
The Pirates will miss Tabata and hopefully he can make it back off the disabled list at the end of his 15 days. Alex Presley will now get the majority of playing time in LF, instead of RF, as was planned.
