According to the Detroit News, the Tigers are planning:
- An open-to-public stop at the Uptown Palladium 12 movie theater in Birmingham, with reigning Cy Young and MVP winner Justin Verlander in attendance.
- A salute to military personnel, with a trip to the United States Army Garrison Arsenal in Warren.

Detroit Tigers Looking to Sign Kerry Wood to Bolster Bullpen
The Detroit Tigers entered the 2011 MLB season with one glaring weakness, and manager Jim Leyland told anyone who asked that he was scared to death of his bullpen. While he had the utmost of confidence in closer Jose Valverde, Leyland knew that bridging the gap to get to Valverde in the ninth inning would be difficult at times.
Needless to say, Leyland would prefer to not have to...
Matt Garza to The Tigers?
Rumors are surfacing that the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers have had discussions about a trade involving Cubs right-hander Matt Garza. Baseball Prospectus’s Kevin Goldstein tweeted earlier that the Tigers may be willing to include elite pitching prospect Jacob Turner in a deal for Garza.
Jacob Turner alone is probably not enough for the Cubs to warrant giving up a pitcher...

Rick Porcello 4.75 ERA in 2011
On Tuesday October 6, 2009 Rick Porcello pitches five and two-third innings of one run baseball for The Detroit Tigers during game 163 against the Minnesota Twins. Although the Tigers lost the game, it was a great way to end his rookie campaign. Nobody knew who this 20-year-old sinker baller was at the start of the season, but everyone knew at the end...

Spending most of his 2011 season in the Eastern League, Turner became the first prep pitcher from the 2009 draft to debut in the Big Leagues. He’s 6-foot-5 and 210-pounds and has solid mechanics that produce good downward plane on his pitches.
His fastball reaches the mid-90s, but he pitches a couple...

The Detroit Tigers have 3 months to go until pitchers and catchers report to spring training in Lakeland Florida, and still have not filled holes at 3B, 2B, SP and OF. Justin Verlander - MVP, Cy Young, future PGA candidate?
Justin Verlander has had a pretty nice last ten months. He finished the 2011 season with a 24-5 record, a 2.40 ERA, a sub one walks/hits per nine innings and he fanned 250 batters in 251 innings. We all know that he took home both the American League Cy Young and the Most Valuable Player awards - serious hardware for a pitcher. So what does a pitcher do after an incredible season...
Pedro Martinez's Old Wounds Reopened With Justin Verlander's MVP Award
P edro Martinez was the best pitcher in baseball during the late '90s and early 2000s, and some might argue that he was the best player in the game. In 1999, Martinez had arguably the greatest year of his career, but due to certain writers leaving him off their ballots, Martinez was passed over for the AL MVP award in favor of Texas Rangers catcher Ivan Rodriguez. The slight...
