The Miami Marlins’ streak of series without a loss improved to seven with Sundays 5-3 win over the Cleveland Indians.  In the last seven series, the Marlins have won five, tied two and walked none encompassing all of May thus far.   Miami owns the best record in Major League Baseball on the month at 14-5 as they head home for their longest homestand of the year thus far.

For a third consecutive start, Josh Johnson looked more like the ace of the past than the pitcher who began 2012 in subpar fashion.   Johnson picked up the win by going seven innings in which he allowed one run on five hits.    While the strikeout numbers were low at four, the right-hander was in control only walking two.   Randy Choate was asked to work one and a third innings, an usually high workload for the lefty specialist.   Choate stayed in long due to a lefty heavy Indians lineup but was lifted in the ninth after the first two hitters reached.   Heath Bell entered with the tying run on deck and allowed a double as both inherited runners scored.   That would be it for the Indians as Bell notched his fifth save of the season in nine chances.   On the road trip, Bell saw action in three games and picked up two saves while allowing no earned runs.

Greg Dobbs had the biggest day at the plate for Miami with three hits including two doubles and a run batted in.    Dobbs started at third base while Hanley Ramirez took the role of the designated hitter for the day.   Logan Morrison who started at first base in place of Gaby Sanchez who was optioned to AAA on Saturday picked up an RBI double of his own, his third of the year.    Brett Hayes had two hits and a run batted in to lift his batting average to .300 which may possibly give him more playing time in place of John Buck in the coming days.

The Marlins will start a series against the Colorado Rockies on Monday as Mark Buehrle is scheduled to start for Miami.   For the Rockies, the scheduled starter is Jamie Moyer.
