Monkey with a Halo:
Let's play a game, one of my favorites, blind stat lines. I'm going to give you five stat lines without names attached and you get to guess who they are:
Player A: .204 AVG, .298 OBP, .393 SLG, .189 ISO, .305 wOBA, 93 wRC+, 11.0 BB%, 26.3 K%
Player B: .215 AVG, .307 OBP, .373 SLG, .158 ISO, .303 wOBA, 93 wRC+, 11.2 BB%, 32.0 K%
Player C: .261 AVG, .302 OBP, .397 SLG, .136 ISO, .307 wOBA, 93 wRC+, 4.8 BB%, 23.7 K%
Player D: .223 AVG, .279 OBP, .408 SLG, .185 ISO, .297 wOBA, 89 wRC+, 6.8 BB%, 25.1 K%
Player E: .230 AVG, .279 OBP, .403 SLG, .173 ISO, .296 wOBA, 89 wRC+, 6.1 BB%, 13.4 K%
It's a mystery! Now, due to the title of this post, you know that one of these players is Josh Hamilton. You probably can even pick out his stat line if you are an ardent enough fan. The question is who are the other four players? I'll give you one big hint: more than one of them (but not all of them) has been designated for assignment and not picked up by another...

ANAHEIM, Calif. The walking boot came off Albert Pujols' left foot for the first time in three weeks Friday, and the Angels first baseman said he intends to begin swinging a bat next week so he can return to the lineup this season.
"It feels really good," Pujols said. "It's good to be out of the boot."
Pujols has been on the disabled list since July...
Angels' shortstop Erick Aybar was cleated in the third inning on a slide by Yankees' Jayson Nix last and left the game with a left calf cramp.
Aybar was seen walking fine after the game and is expected to be in Wednesday's lineup.
#Angels SS Erick Aybar said he did get spiked by Nix on that play but should be able to play Wednesday.

The Los Angeles Angels are expecting to activate center fielder Peter Bourjos from the disabled list tomorrow and insert him back in their lineup as they start a three-game series against the Houston Astros, according to Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com.
Bourjos has been out since the end of June with a fractured right wrist. He's been rehabbing with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate...
Jered Weaver had arguably the worst outing of his career, and the Angels' offense once again crept quietly into the night on Wednesday. As is the theme in these remaining games of this, the abysmal 2013 season, the Angels did nothing well. They didn't pitch well and they didn't hit well either.
And, as is also the theme of this year, the Angels'...

The Story: Peter Bourjos will return from the disabled this Friday.
The Monkey Says: Which is only going to make it more difficult for Mike Scioscia to find a way to get playing time for Kole Calhoun.
Chris Nelson was headed toward the showers when he walked past C.J. Wilson's locker in the Los Angeles Angels' clubhouse.
''What's up, hero?'' Wilson said with a wry grin.
''Me? No,'' Nelson replied.
That must be exactly what the New York Yankees are thinking.
Nelson hit his first two home runs of the season, including a grand slam...
In a series that had the Halos faltering from the mound and the plate, C.J. Wilson and Chris Nelson turned in great performances to help the Angels avoid a four game sweep. Wilson pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up only one run, while Nelson did his best Alfonso Soriano impression, driving in 5 runs. His grand salami in the 8th inning gave the Angels a 7 run lead, thus granting...
NEW YORK (AP) -- Chris Nelson hit his first two home runs of the season, including a grand slam against his former team, to send C.J. Wilson and the Los Angeles Angels past the New York Yankees 8-4 on Thursday.
Josh Hamilton and rookie J.B. Shuck each had an RBI single to help the struggling Angels prevent a four-game sweep. Wilson (13-6) won his fifth consecutive decision, keeping...

Another example of what has made this season the craptastical madhouse that it's been was Tuesday night's loss to the Yankees. The Angels are no longer in contention. This particular blogger is actively rooting for the team to lose every possible game from here on out, and looking to the great oasis that is the 2014 MLB season.
Let's face it, folks....
I have to admit that I was worried about whether or not the Yankees could, again, put up strong offensive numbers against the Angels last night. After all, Jered Weaver was on the mound for LA and he has always been tough against New York. However, the old saying, "you can't predict baseball" was perfectly demonstrated last night, as Weaver had nothing. He allowed nine...

Many expected the Astros to finish their first season in their new league at the bottom of the AL West. Few foresaw the Angels finishing only one spot ahead of them.
However, that's where the teams currently reside in the standings as they open a three-game series in Los Angeles on Friday night.
The Astros are a major league-worst 39-81, though it hasn't entirely come as...

Ivan Nova (5-4, 2.93 ERA) continues to impress and takes on the equally impressive Jered Weaver (7-5, 2.87 ERA) in the third game of the four against the Angels. Nova has an impressive six consecutive quality starts since July 5, posting a 1.60 ERA over that span while striking out 44 batters in 45 innings. The righty struggled in his last start...
