Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was able to rejoin his club last night for the start of their series against the Oakland Athletics. Prior to the contest, the Rangers announced that Hamilton’s recent absence due to blurred vision was the result of “too much caffeine and sports drinks,” reports Richard Durrett of ESPNDallas.com:
#Rangers say Josh Hamilton has ocular keratitis, which is blurred vision from too much caffeine and sports drinks.

Before his Monday night return, Hamilton had been out of the Rangers’ lineup since last Tuesday. The 31-year-old’s dizziness and blurred vision were initially attributed to a sinus infection, something that Hamilton has dealt with in the past.
Unfortunately for Hamilton and the Rangers, an exactdiagnosis wasn’t made and the outfielder’s status with the club was unknown upuntil yesterday afternoon. Texas announced that the vision issues were due to ocular keratitis, which results from the consumption of too much caffeine and sports drinks.
Following the diagnosis, Hamilton was able to rejoin the Rangers. His box score didn’t show signs of blurred vision, as he walked twice and hit his 43rd home run of the season.
