The Oakland A’s dispatched the Houston Astros 4-3 on Monday night for their tenth win against Houston on the season – but it wasn’t easy.
The game looked like it was going to be frustrating for Oakland from the get-go: Coco Crisp led off the game with a wringing double against Houston starter Dallas Keuchel but the A’s failed to score, stranding Crisp at second to end the inning.
In the bottom of the second, Tommy Milone (who wasn’t at his best on the night but finished with a respectable line of 6 IP 5 H 2 ER) gave up a leadoff double to Justin Maxwell, who quickly stole third. J.D. Martinez then grounded to short, but Jed Lowrie’s throw eluded Nate Freiman at first, tagging Lowrie for an error. Two batters later, though, Josh Reddick made a sterling catch in right on a sinking line drive off the bat of Matt Dominguez (the first highlight of Reddick’s night).
