MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins left fielder Josh Willingham had a cortisone shot Saturday night for his balky left knee but hopes to be back in action Tuesday.Willingham, 34, has been bothered by a sore knee for most of the season but he couldn't pinpoint when exactly it started hurting. He said it's been lingering since before he stole his first (and only) base of the season on April 27 when he slid awkwardly into second base."There's not one thing. It's just wear and tear," Willingham said. "It's been aggravating me pretty much all year. I don't know why or what or when it started, to be honest with you."It was the first cortisone shot of his career for Willingham, who was out of the Twins' lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Detroit Tigers. He has not played in left field since June 9 against Washington and has been used as a designated hitter for four straight games prior to a day off Saturday.Willingham isn't sure if he'll DH when he returns or if he'll go back out to left field right away."It limits my ability to run, which affects my defense," Willingham said of his knee. "Not that I'm a Gold Glover. We all know that I'm not. But I can't be the best that I can be in left field because it hurts to run. I figured we'd go ahead and get it knocked out and get the medicine in there and then hopefully play Tuesday." Follow Tyler Mason on Twitter
