Baseball Hot Corner:
St. Louis Cardinals
Los Angeles Angels
Tampa Bay Rays
Another day has come and gone and yet fans of both the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals are still talking about the possibility of trading Jurickson Profar for Oscar Taveras. This rumor first came to light via the internet a few days ago and has yet to be extinguished by either team. As Rangers fans collectively hold their breath, hoping that they do not decide to trade what many consider a “once in a generation” talent, one has to wonder what the contract extension of Elvis Andrus means for Profar. I think Dallas Morning News columnist Rick Gosselin said it the best concerning Profar, ““The fact that Profar is playing shortstop in Round Rock (AAA) bothers me. If he was going to be the second baseman of the future here next year playing alongside Andrus, I think he would be playing second base in Round Rock. The fact that he’s playing shortstop, I think they’re shopping him right now.”
Gosselin makes a very interesting point, if the Rangers did believe that Profar was going...

As the reigning Cy Young award winner and having been through the
arbitration process twice already, the Tampa Bay Rays' David Price is
getting expensive. He is already earning $10 million this year and can
be expected to double that over his next two arbitration years.
this means is that the Rays, as is their M.O., will probably look to
trade Price, maybe as soon...
The way everyone is talking about it, the NL world as we know it is coming to an end in the not-too-distant future. That is because everyone is speculating the the NL will eventually have to adopt the DH.
No longer will the NL be the last bastion of "pure" baseball.
No longer will managers actually need to think about when to lift their starter for a pinch hitter...
The Texas Rangers have not missed a beat this year with slugger Josh Hamilton moving on to LA. They are 9-5 so far in this young season, and easily one of the better teams in baseball. It helps of course that they have guys like Craig Gentry making plays like he did Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs.
This sucker could have easily been the blooper that got the Cubs into the...
The Rangers begin a series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday and DH Lance Berkman didn't mince words when providing his thoughts on the stadium.
The Texas Rangers are optimistic that they’ll be able to
trade Julio Borbon prior to today’s deadline, and the Baltimore Orioles remain “very
interested” in the outfielder, according
to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com.
Ghiroli notes that the O’s and Rangers have held ongoing
discussions regarding Borbon. While Texas seeks pitching in exchange for the
The St. Louis Cardinals have been led by solid starting pitching all season while manager Mike Matheny's very potent offense had taken a back seat through the team's first 12 games. On Monday night at Pittsburgh, the offense exploded for seven runs in the second inning to beat the Pirates 10-3.
After scoring a run on an Allen Craig fielder's choice in the first inning...
Cardinals at Pirates TV Information
(AP) -- Jake Westbrook's 2013 season has gotten off to a dominant start for the St. Louis Cardinals.
With two impressive outings under his belt, he'll try to carry that success over against a team that has given him trouble when he faces the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night at PNC Park.
The right-hander is 1-7 with a 5.91 ERA in...
According to this tweet by Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Mets may have something cooking with the Texas Rangers who are seeking to move outfielder Julio Borbon.
Borbon, 27, was designated for assignment last week and the Rangers have until this afternoon to trade him or place him on irrevocable waivers. He has a slash of .283/.324/.358 over parts of four years in the majors.
Entering the season, one of the easy strengths for the Cardinals was the bullpen. It was a group that had a phenomenal second half and postseason a year ago, and was getting a boost from a few of the promising prospects in the organization finally reaching St. Louis as well. However, what’s gold doesn’t always glitter, and the bullpen has been remarkably dull in the early season...

We are going to lose a Jonathan Sanchez start? Nooooooooo! Wow. There isn’t much in the world that sums up the 1980s quite like that. Last night’s game will be rescheduled and it will start over. Sorry Pedro Alvarez, no hit for you. Imagine how different life would be if A.J. Burnett would have signed…
