The Outside Corner:
Texas Rangers top prospect Jurickson Profar, just called up to the major league roster this weekend, wasted no time in proving his worth. In his first major league at bat on Sunday against the Indians, Profar took a Zack McAllister pitch deep over the right field wall for the first homer of his career.
Pirates prospect Starling Marte also homered in his first career at bat, but Marte topped Profar by doing it in the first pitch of the at bat back in July. HAH! At any rate, this is a nice pro debut by the 19-year old Profar, who started at second base and hit nine for Texas on Sunday. It'll also give them an interesting decision about their future next season with Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus as a pretty solid double play combination up the middle.

Jurickson Profar made quite the impression. During his first career at-bat, Profar, a 19-year-old prospect for the Rangers, delivered a solo home run to right field off Cleveland's Zach McAllister. Profar wasn't expected to receive much playing time, but he was thrown into the fire when Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler was injured. Batting in the No. 9 hole, Profar didn...
Infielder Jurickson Profar, the Texas Rangers' heralded top prospect, was called up to the majors on Saturday and made his major-league debut on Sunday. It took him all of one swing to make an impact, too. Profar, 19, became the first player in Texas history to homer in his first at-bat, thus setting the tone for an 8-3 win over Cleveland. Profar was inserted into the...
After seeing Jurickson Profar play in the South Atlantic League in mid-2011, I returned home and wrote a piece for the now defunct Roto Hardball discussing the teenage phenom as the best shortstop prospect in baseball. In fact, if asked to name the top five prospects I’ve ever scouted in person, Profar would be listed alongside Jason Heyward, Mike Stanton, Bryce Harper and Dylan...
The Texas Rangers will give 19-year-old infielder Jurickson Profar, considered their top prospect, a chance to prove he belongs on the playoff roster. The club announced after Friday's 5-3 win over the Cleveland Indians that it intended to purchase the contract of Profar from Class AA Frisco. He hit .281 (135-for-480) with 14 home runs, 26 doubles, seven triples, 62 RBI, 76...
Ladies and gentlemen — Jurickson Profar has arrived.
He’s just 19 years old, but he’s been touted as the top prospect in all of baseball. Rangers fans have been anticipating his debut for a long time. Or at least it feels like it. They expressed their ire when he sat on his first day in the big leagues. And they got redemption as Ian Kinsler was scratched with lower back...
Jurickson Profar, the youngest player in the major leagues, homered in his first career at-bat for the Texas Rangers.
The 19-year-old hit a 2-1 pitch from Cleveland Indians starter Zach McAllister an estimated 388 feet over the right-field wall in the third inning on Sunday.
Profar became a surprise starter at second base when Ian Kinsler came up with a stiff back before the game...
