The Indians were hoping their Ace Justin Masterson could go out and pitch the way he did in his last start. That wasn’t what Masterson did as he struggled to throw strikes. Masterson only pitched for 4-1/3 innings and he threw 102 pitches, it was a very hot day in Cleveland and the heat could have played a part in Masterson’s performance. Justin gave up 9 hits and 8 earned runs to the Tampa Bay Rays. The Indians have seen Masterson struggle all season, he isn’t the same Justin Masterson he was last season. It is difficult for pitchers to get it done year after year. The Indians have a good pitcher in Justin Masterson, they just don’t know which Masterson is going to show up on a particular night. With last nights loss Justin Masterson falls to 5-8 on the season, maybe with the break coming up Masterson can figure out what he needs to do to get things right. If the Indians can get a good Justin Masterson after the break they stand a chance. With the loss the Tribe falls to three ga...
