The Kansas City Royals have been last, or close to last, in the AL Central for as long as most MLB fans can remember. However, they are overwhelmingly first in mascot debauchery. Someone tweeted with picture (again Not Safe For Work) of Sluggerrr, the Kansas City Royals mascot getting his naked lap dance on. You’ll have more respect for the Kansas City Royals when you see this. Because you probably have very little respect for the Kansas City Royals right now.   Royals 2013 slogan: “come to play” slugger the mascot sure is! @theprogramkc @darrenrovell @deadspin twitter.com/johnnyo57/stat… — John OConnor (@johnnyo57) March 21, 2013   Deadspin published an update on this picture. A twitter user has chimed in saying the picture was from a friend’s bachelor party (though he was not at the party) in 2005 and the guy in the costume is no longer Sluggerrr. My first question is “what’s with the spelling?” The next one is, how will this picture make the Kansas City Royals better this season...

Royals option Lough, name Mendoza 5th Starter

by John Viril— The Royals have optioned outfielder David Lough to the minor leagues, released veteran OF Xavier Nady and RP George Sherrill and named Luis Mendoza the 5th starter. With these moves, the final shape of the 25-man roster becomes almost entirely resolved. By optioning Lough, who led all Royals hitters with a .455 batting average this spring, the team has clearly opted...

Royals take safe route in Getz over Giavotella

KANSAS CITY, Mo. You could almost hear the moans from Royals fans across the area when manager Ned Yost announced that Chris Getz had indeed beat out Johnny Giavotella for the second-base job. Many fans have been pulling for Johnny G to win the job for close to two years. But as was the case last year, Getz held off the challenger again in spring training. Getzs numbers clearly...

Gordon Crushing ball in Arizona

by John Viril— It’s nice to see Alex Gordon mashing the ball in the Cactus league. In 58 AB’s, Gordon has hit .407/.470/.729 with 5 HR’s. His 9 extra-base hits are second on the team to Mike Moustakas’s 11. Overall, Gordon is enjoying an excellent spring. I am particularly encouraged by Gordon’s five home runs—even if they are in the thin Arizona air. Last season, Gordon...

Tipster sends tweet to Deadspin with a NSFW picture of Sluggerrr getting a lap dance. Another guys sees that picture...
