PLAYERS: Wil Myers
TEAMS: Kansas City Royals

Via Ride the Pine:

One of the events that starts the MLB All-Star week is the Futures Game, which features prospects from the United States taking on the prospects from around the world.

Kansas City Royals prospect Wil Myers had a big day with two hits and 3 RBIs, leading the USA in a 17-5 win. But the coolest thing Myers did was foul a pitch off and shatter the camera lens behind home plate.

Expect Myers to have to continue to do cool things in his life trying to overcome the fact that his parents only spelled his first name with one L.

Royals Prospect Wil Myers’ foul ball smashes home plate camera, creates terrifying GIF in the process

This Sunday the 2012 MLB Futures Game between teams comprised of U.S. players taking on their foreign counterparts took place to kick off this year’s All-Star Game festivities.  With Royals prospect Wil Myers up in the sixth inning for the U.S.A team, this happened… If the cameraman stationed behind that suddenly smashed piece of video equipment didn’t void his bowels at...

Cain called up, Myers still biding time in minors

Royals fans hoping for a quick promotion for prospect Wil Myers will have to wait a bit longer. Perhaps quite a bit longer. The Royals activated center fielder Lorenzo Cain on Monday, along with second baseman Chris Getz, and shipped out Irving Falu and right-hander Nate Adcock to Triple-A Omaha. What that means is that Cain will take over the job in center field, and be occasionally...

Wil Myers the main attraction at Futures game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Bo knows Wil. Sort of. A little. OK, not really. "He kind of knew who I was," Wil Myers, the Kansas City Royals' top prospect, recalled with a grin as he sat inside the home clubhouse at Kauffman Stadium. "But he didn't really know anything about me." That'll change, you feel, after Sunday night. Myers, the Royals' 6-foot...

Royals prospect Will Meyers hits foul ball that shatters ESPN home plate camera (Video)

Kansas City Royals prospect Will Meyers fouled a pitch straight back behind home plate that shattered the lens of an ESPN camera during Sunday's MLB All-Star Futures game in Kansas City. Looks like ESPN will have to send Meyers the bill for that one. Meyers had 3 RBIs to help lead the U.S. team to a 17-5 victory over the World team. Video via. Visit us at http:...

Kansas City and the All Star “DNP” Tradition

The big boys are coming to our house this year, but that doesn’t mean we’ll be allowed to play with them. The Royals host the All Star Game this year, and it is a huge event for Kansas City. But the hopes of KC fans that their team would be well represented at home were disappointed. Ever since the announcement was made that KC would be home to the 2012 All Star Game, the question...

Futures dominate World at Kauffman Stadium

Manager George Brett had a simple message for his U.S. Team prior to Sunday's All-Star Future's Game against the World Team at Kauffman Stadium: Embarrass the World Team. "I really did tell them that," Brett said. "I think that's the attitude you have to have going into every game. You want to embarrass the other team." Mission accomplished. The...

Breaking even with David Glass

By now I’m sure just about every Kansas City Royals fan has heard about Danny Parkins’ interview* with David Glass on the first day of All Star Weekend. Glass, of course, came off as aloof and utterly clueless as he ever has, and earned as much ire for the way he ended the interview as he did for anything he said. He sparked a Twitter debate amongst the fan base over who is more...

Yordano Ventura Heads off to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals

In a move that really shouldn't surprised anyone following the Blue Rocks, RHP Vordano Ventura was officially promoted to the Kansas City Royals AA team, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, after having a spectacular run in Wilmington. In a little over half a season with the Blue Rocks Yordano was 3-5 in 16 games, had a 3.30 ERA, and struck out 98 batters in 76.1 innings. He...

Kansas City Royals Fans Boo Robinson Cano, Yankees Fans Furious; Forget Chase Utley Boos

Your browser does not support iframes.  Kansas City Royals fans provided the highlight of what was otherwise a dull Home Run Derby.   Bitter that Kansas City's hometown hero Billy Butler was left off of the Home Run Derby as captain Robinson Cano picked other players despite Cano stating that he would take a hometown player, they let them have it.    Billy Butler has 16...

With the All-Star Break just about upon us, if you are like me, you may be wondering what baseball you can watch when the events in Kansas City are quiet. The key happenings include Sunday’s Futures Game, the Home Run Derby on Monday, and Tuesday’s All-Star Game followed by Wednesday’s day off. The Royals are hosts for the festivities, with Kansas City’s ties to the St. Louis...

Stars Shine Brightly in MLB Futures Game

The greatest part of the MLB All-Star break in recent seasons has been the Future's Game. With the boredom of Home Run Derby, and occasional apathy towards the All-Star game, this rare look at the best prospects in the Minor Leagues competing against one another has been the only festivity worth much attention.Leading up to this year's game, we were particularly interested...
