Indians Baseball Insider:
COLUMBUS, OHIO- On a beautiful 70 degree night in Columbus, with the minds of the fans elsewhere in Boston, Scott Kazmir saw his first action in affiliated baseball since 2011. Carlos Carrasco lended him a four-inning hand of near-perfection, and the two "starters" led the Clippers to a 4-1 victory.
Starting the game with a moment of silence for the victims of the bombings at the 117th Boston Marathon, the Clippers provided a bit of a distraction from the tragedies that occurred earlier in the day.
From that solemn moment forward, Scott Kazmir was the center of attention.
Kazmir had a bit of an unlucky start to his outing after getting ahead 0-2 to Bats’ speedy centerfielder, Billy Hamilton.
Swinging hard and missing a Kazmir fastball to get behind 0-2, Hamilton laid down a hard bunt and blazed down the basepath for an infield single. Bats’ shortstop, and former Cleveland Indian, Jason Donald, then smacked a liner in the gap, but was thrown out at second base by Cl...

It was announced following the game and first reported by WTAM’s Mark Schwab that Indians centerfielder Michael Bourn received five stitches in his right index finger after pitcher Matt Thornton stepped on his hand on a bang-bang play at first base in the 8th innning where Bourn slid head first and beat the throw.
Bourn accounted for the team’s only run of the game, taking the...
The Cleveland Indians gave Ubaldo Jimenez a couple of extra days off in between starts, it didn’t help the big man. As a matter of fact, he looked worse in the Boston game last night than he had in a while. Jimenez, just can’t find the answers to his pitching problems and either can the Indians coaching staff. It is time to get Jimenez some mental help. The problem is between...

Terry Francona will always have a special place in the hearts of Red Sox fans, but it won’t necessarily be evident this week.
With the Red Sox facing off against their former skipper during a three-game series in Cleveland, the Sox will have to put aside their affection for Tito and do what he taught them to: win. With John Farrell at the helm now, the new-look Boston squad is...

Tonight, Terry Francona sat in the dugout opposite his old club, managed by his old pitching coach in front of an announced crowd of 9,143 fans. Not to attendance shame the Cleveland fans, but the atmosphere at Progressive Field paled in compassion to anything Francona likely ever experienced in his seven years in Boston.
As Felix Doubront labored through five innings, Cleveland...
It was Tuesday night. Carlos Carrasco and the Indians were getting pounded by the Bronx Bombers for the second straight evening, and the Cavaliers had blown a 20-point fourth quarter lead against the Pacers. It was a “woe is us” type of night on Twitter, and this writer’s body defensively put itself into sleep mode shortly before both games, missing the...

As the Red Sox travel away from the confines of Fenway Park for a short three-game road trip, they likely do so with heavy hearts.
However, with tributes to the Boston Marathon tragedy coming in from around the world, the Cleveland Indians are also showing due respect as they welcome the Red Sox to Progressive Field. As noted by multiple Red Sox beat writers, the flag in center field...
The Cleveland Indians traded AA starting pitcher, Eric Berger (he of the infamous mustache) to Houston today in exchange for catcher Chris Wallace. This was a move that was made in response to the lack of catching depth in Akron and Columbus due to the injuries to Lou Marson (neck), Carlos Santana (thumb) and Alex Laviski (toe).
According to the Houston Astros media guide,...
