Adrian Gonzalez denied the information in a Yahoo! Sports report that said he and other prominent Red Sox players blasted manager Bobby Valentine to the owners, and it looks like he was partially truthful. Yahoo!’s Jeff Passan reported that some Red Sox players met with the owners on July 26 to complain about Bobby Valentine after Adrian Gonzalez sent a text message on behalf of the team. Gonzalez admitted a meeting took place, but he denied the information in the report. “The source is inaccurate,” Gonzalez said on Wednesday. “It says that I was animated and one of the most vocal guys in the meeting, and that’s false. I had a discussion with Bobby about that today. He knows exactly what happened. He knows the truth. I don’t know why this all of a sudden becomes something because this happened a month ago. So it’s all been cleared, and now somebody decides to write it. It’s already old.” Gonzalez may have been partially telling the truth when he said the source was inaccurate. A r...

Report: Shoppach, not Gonzalez, responsible for message to Red Sox ownership

Former Boston Red Sox catcher Kelly Shoppach, not Adrian Gonzalez, was the player primarily responsible for crafting the text message sent to team ownership in July complaining about manager Bobby Valentine, the New York Daily News reported Sunday. The message led to a meeting between frustrated players and owner John Henry and team president Larry Lucchino. The message was sent...

Was It Shoppach That Spearheaded The Mutiny In Boston?

Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez was not the author of the now-infamous text message to Boston ownership complaining about manager Bobby Valentine, although it was sent from his cell phone, major league sources told Andy Martino of the Daily News. Those sources also said new Mets catcher Kelly Shoppach was deeply involved in writing the message that touched off...

Kelly Shoppach's Twitter Account Seemingly Validates Claim He Didn't Attend July 26 Meeting

Kelly Shoppach's name continues to get dragged through the Red Sox' soap opera. Although the catcher is settling into his new environment with the Mets –– he was traded earlier this week –– a New York Daily News report pinpointed Shoppach as the ringleader that contacted Red Sox ownership about issues with skipper Bobby Valentine. But the Mets catcher denied any involvement...

Shoppach denies involvement in Red Sox texts

New York Mets catcher Kelly Shoppach denied that he had any part in text messages that reportedly undermined Boston manager Bobby Valentine to Red Sox owners. Boston traded Shoppach to the Mets on Tuesday. The New York Daily News reported that Shoppach sent text messages using the phone of Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. ''I wasn't behind any texts,''...

Gonzalez, Lester lift BoSox over Yanks

Jon Lester shut down the Yankees' offense for seven innings, Adrian Gonzalez provided an early lead with a two-run homer and the Boston Red Sox beat New York 4-1 Saturday for a badly needed win. Yankees nemesis Pedro Ciriaco was 4 for 4, raising his average against New York this year to .517 (15 for 29), and Boston reliever Craig Breslow and catcher Ryan Lavarnway became what...

Does Anyone Actually Believe That Kelly Shoppach Sent The Text Message To Red Sox Owners?

Whether you believe this story or not, its embarrassing at every turn. Lets start with the backstory from the New York Daily News on August 19th: Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez was not the author of the now-infamous text message to Boston ownership complaining about manager Bobby Valentine, although it was sent from his cell phone, major league sources told the...

Your Morning Dump...Where Kelly Shoppach sent the infamous text message

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. The latest intrigue: according to a report in the New York Daily News, backup catcher Kelly Shoppach, using teammate Adrian Gonzalez's phone, sent the infamous text message requesting a meeting with team...

Lester, Gonzalez lead Red Sox past Yankees

NEW YORK -- This time, the Boston Red Sox didn't have to worry about Jon Lester getting embarrassed. And the only message Adrian Gonzalez needed to send in Lester's defense was the two-run homer he provided in the first inning to help beat the New York Yankees 4-1 Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Lester looked more like the pitcher Boston had counted on entering the season...

Boston Red Sox: Kelly Shoppach Sent Anti-Bobby Valentine Texts

According to reports, former Boston Red Sox catcher Kelly Shoppach sent the now-infamous texts to team ownership complaining about manager Bobby Valentine. The texts were sent in late July and were previously attributed to first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. The New York Daily News cites several sources that claim Shoppach was “deeply involved” with writing the message, which was...

Matt Kemp, Don Mattingly Explode During Lengthy Tirades Following Ejections Against Pirates (Video)

Adrian Gonzalez was ejected from the bench on Wednesday night, a decision which he didn't seem too upset about. Moments later, his manager, Bobby Valentine, came out to passively argue that decision by the umpire. Shortly thereafter, Valentine was given the thumb and sent to the showers. A day later, Matt Kemp and Don Mattingly showed Gonzalez and Valentine how it was really...

Red Sox 4, Yankees 1

I Was Wrong

Two days ago (Wednesday) when I wrote my blog and called Red Sox players "ML WIMPS" for running to ownership to complain about manager Bobby Valentine I was wrong. Red Sox players, led by first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and second baseman Dustin Pedroia are not "Wimps" - these cry babies are "ML COWARDS." That''s right "...

Pre-Game: New York Mets (57-63) @ Washington Nationals (74-46)

There was a nasty rumor circulating around the interwebs the other day that the player to be named later in the Kelly Shoppach deal was Pedro Beato.  We were all fleeced.  In fact, the player to be named later was WPIX, the basic cable home of the NY Mets.  It was a shame that Cablevision subscribers missed out on a fantastic Jonathan Niese start and an impressive Ike Davis home...
