Jason Kendall will miss the rest of 2011 and likely all of 2012: Jason Kendall, one of five players in major league history to catch 2,000 games, has re-torn rotator cuff muscles in his throwing shoulder and will require a second surgery that will sideline him at least through 2012. The 37-year-old will undergo surgery next week in Los Angeles. I don’t think the chances of him returning are very good. As a young man he got on base at a good clip, but he hasn’t had a decent OBP since 2004. He’s never had much power, and according to R-WAR, has not been a great defender. Unless he’s willing to play for the minimum, I don’t see why a team would go for him.
