If you haven’t been watching lately you may have missed the fact that Kevin Kouzmanoff is starting to hit the ball. Granted he hasn’t been a world beater. Over his last three games Kevin is 5 for his last 10 with an rbi. Again those aren’t world beating numbers but they are a sign of life.
Before becoming an Oakland A Kouz was not a great hitter. He was an average hitter for the San Diego Padres. In his three seasons for them he averaged .275, .260 and .255. The A’s didn’t bring him here for his average, they brought him here for his pop. In those same three years Kouz hit 18, 23 and 18 home runs for the Padres. So I wasn’t upset last year when Kouz had a career low batting average. Supposedly playing in Oakland will knock .010 off anyone’s batting average. The fact that he hit 16 home runs gave me a slight feeling of satisfaction. I was hoping that this year would be an improvement. All I want/expect from the guy is about 20 home runs a ye...
