Found April 17, 2013 on Indians Baseball Insider:
On Wednesday afternoon the Cleveland Indians announced that right-handed pitcher Corey Kluber was recalled from Triple-A Columbus and outfielder Michael Bourn was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a lacerated right index finger (retroactive to April 15). Kluber has made two starts with Columbus this year (12.1IP, 14H, 9R/ER, 1-1 record) and was with the Indians last week from April 10-12 but did not appear in a game. He is expected to pitch out of the bullpen in long relief. Bourn suffered his finger injury sliding into first base in the 8th inning on Sunday against the White Sox and is beginning just his second career stint on the Major League disabled list (first since 2007). He is hitting .333 (14-for-45) with 4 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR & 2 RBI in 10 games and is currently tied for 10th in the AL in extra base hits (7) and 15th in OPS (.975). Kluber did not spend the required 10 days in the minors to be recalled, but because of Bourn going on the disabled list the ten-day rule di...

He is coming off a spring exhibition season...

Jimenez struggles as Indians fall 7-2 to Red Sox

Cleveland, Ohio — On a day filled with tributes to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, the Red Sox lit up Ubaldo Jimenez to the tune of seven runs in the second inning, beating the Cleveland Indians 7-2. After retiring the first three hitters of the game by ground out, Jimenez (0-2, 11.25) failed to work out of the second inning. He allowed seven earned runs on two hits...

First Homestand Attendance Analysis

Going into the season, the Cleveland Indians PR team was bragging about selling out the home opener in ten minutes after the Michael Bourn signing, making it seem like a return to age when getting tickets to a home opener meant standing in a line for hours and finding out they sold out before you got to the front. The Indians have sold out every Opening Day since 2007 (when they...

Terry Francona Seems to Have Work Cut Out for Himself in Cleveland (Video)

Terry Francona will always have a special place in the hearts of Red Sox fans, but it won’t necessarily be evident this week. With the Red Sox facing off against their former skipper during a three-game series in Cleveland, the Sox will have to put aside their affection for Tito and do what he taught them to: win. With John Farrell at the helm now, the new-look Boston squad is...

Turning the Masty Corner?

I am sort of obsessed with Justin Masterson. Every year, whether he has a difficult April (like last year) or a fabulous one (like 2011) I find myself poring over his stat line to see if anything remarkable has changed.  More often than not, I end up concluding the same thing each year: he’s a good pitcher who—as most non-strikeout pitchers do—relies heavily on the random...

Mudcats fall to Blue Rocks 4-3

Wilmington, D.E. – The Wilmington Blue Rocks clinched a series victory with a 4-3 win over the Carolina Mudcats Tuesday night at Frawley Stadium. Left-handed pitcher J.D. Reichback (0-1) took the loss for Carolina and allowed two runs on five hits over two innings. The Mudcats took an early lead in the first inning after an RBI from second baseman Joseph Wendle’s fly out, which...

4/16 Game Recap: Red Sox 7 - Indians 2

Player of the Game In a competition of relievers, Nick Hagadone (2.56 POG score) takes the cake with two innings pitched as he allowed just two walks and no hits or runs. The lefty struck out three as well and just barely edged out Bryan Shaw (2.51 POG), who struck out four in 1.1 innings. It is Hagadone's first award of the season and just the second won by any relief pitcher...

Daisuke Matsuzaka channeling his best Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn?

“Wild Thing” [bum bum bah bah bah]  You make my heart sing [bum bum bah bah bah]…” ( Cleveland Indians “farmhand” (really?) Daisuke Matsuzaka seems to be emulating the Indians fan favorite Rick Vaughn (a.k.a. Charlie Sheen) in everyone’s favorite late 1980′s baseball movie “Major League”.  After getting “red tagged” out of Spring Training, Matsuzaka figured...

Somber Red Sox regroup, beat Indians 7-2

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Mike Napoli hit a three-run double in Boston's seven-run second inning and the Red Sox, playing with heavy hearts one day after the deadly bombings back home, beat the Cleveland Indians 7-2 on Tuesday night. Boston's players were already en route to Cleveland when they learned of the explosions near the Boston Marathon's finish line that killed three...

How to Get a Seat Upgrade

It’s that elusive, sometimes seemingly unattainable goal of trying to upgrade your seats once you get to a game. I’m now convinced that at least one fan of the Cleveland Indians has it figured out.   At Saturday’s contest against the Chicago White Sox, he shared the trick to all 11,422 fans (I was one of them) in attendance.      At first glance...

What Exactly Can Ezekquiel Carrera Do, Anyway?

It has been 15 days since the Phillies claimed outfielder Ezekquiel Carrera off of waivers from the Cleveland Indians. And since that day, Carrera has as many Phillies hits as he had for the Phillies before they acquired him: none. At a time when the Phillies offense cannot seem to...
