Chicago White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko is scheduled to undergo concussion-related tests at Rush University Medical Center on Monday, the team announced Sunday.

The White Sox are hoping Konerko shows sufficient improvement to resume baseball activities on Tuesday. They hope Konerko is cleared rejoin the team for the game against Kansas City on Friday, when he is eligible to return from the 7-day concussion disabled list.

"It's not easy to get on this list, and it's not easy to get off it," said White Sox manager Robin Ventura, according to MLB.com. "Our doctors look at it, and MLB has doctors to look at him. It's not just we look at him and give him a thumbs-up.

"He felt a little better yesterday, but he hasn't done any activity. Exert himself. Running, workout, that's really the next step. Once he feels he's able to start doing things, running around and maybe swinging a bat. Most of the symptoms go away, and then you try to get some activity in and see where it goes."

Konerko sustained the concussion in the seventh inning last Tuesday, when Jarrod Dyson's left elbow caught Konerko in the right temple as Konerko was running out an infield single. He was put on the concussion disabled list Friday.

Konerko is hitting .316 with 18 homers this season.
