Cole Hamels was completely dominant last night as he shut out the Braves for his first complete game shut out since Game 3 of the 2010 NLDS. Hamels earned his 12th win of the year as he allowed just five hits while striking out six. Hamels evened up the series with the Braves at one-a-peice as well as snapping the Phillies' seven-game losing streak against their NL East rivals. Tonight Kyle Kendrick (4-9, 4.45 ERA) will aim to take the series win as he makes the start against Tim Hudson (11-4, 3.45 ERA) and the Braves. Kendrick was placed back in the rotation after Joe Blanton was traded on Friday. He made his last start the same day against the D-backs. In a losing effort, Kendrick allowed two earned runs on five hits through four innings. Kendrick has only won two decisions in his last eight outings. In his last start prior to Friday's, back on July 6, he tossed seven scoreless innings against the Braves in a winning effort. The righty only allowed four hits in that game ...

Hamels Wills Phillies To Victory Over Braves

Cole Hamels decided the Phillies weren't going to lose tonight. (AP) There was a baseball game in Philadelphia tonight, but it was in name only. For, you see, it was less a game than a one-man pitching showcase, headlined by Cole Hamels and his nine shutout innings. His performance willed the Phillies to a victory over the Braves, 3-0, in a game where the runs scored will become...

Cole Hamels : "They're going to start another streak;" Phillies Will Be Winners

Cole Hamels was absolutely dominant last night on the mound, throwing his first complete game since September 2011 and his first shut out since September 2009 in his 100th career start at Citizens Bank Park.  Today, Hamels spoke about why he re-signed with the Phillies. Check out today's interview from MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM with Jim Memolo and Jeff Nelson.   You can...

Phillies Pitching Frustrating Once Again

The Phillies lost in spectacularly bad fashion by a score of 12-6 against the Braves last night, losing the 3 game series. Kyle Kendrick went only 3 1/3 innings while giving up 6 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks. Kendrick looked like he was sleepwalking through the game. He was awful. The only thing worse than Kyle Kendrick’s pitching was his post-game interview. Nearly all of Kendrick’s...

Hamels Ends Losing Streak Against Braves

It appears that Cole Hamels has found his groove again, and just in time to end a long Phillies losing streak against the division rival Braves. Prior to Tuesday night, the Braves had won 7 straight against the struggling Phils. But once Hamels snapped out of his pitching slump, he made easy work out of Atlanta’s line-up. He pitched a 5-hit, complete game shut-out with 6 strike...

Hamels is lone bright star on Phillies pitching staff

Cole Hamels threw a five-hit shutout at the Atlanta Braves in a 3-0 win Tuesday night. It took him 111 pitches, two hours and 16 minutes to finish his first complete game since Game 3 of the 2010 National League division series. He struck out six and walked none to improve to 12-6. Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee combined have two wins at Citizen’s Bank Park. Halladay has both wins...

Kendrick Struggles, Bullpen Implosion Leads to 12-6 Blowout Loss to Atlanta

The pesky Braves just can't lose, can they? Other than last night's gem of a game from Hamels, the Braves have dominated the Phillies all season. Tonight, they showed great patience at the plate and got Kyle Kendrick to exit the game early, just to tear up the Phils' bullpen. In the rubber match of this series, Phillies fans were caught with their hands shielding their...

Cole Hamels Gets The Nod In An Effort To Even Series With Braves

Last night was just another example of the 2012 Phillies. Poor play, no drive to play for win and the inability to hit with runners in scoring position. Vance Worley allowed four earned runs on six hits through 3 2/3 innings, but left early with what was later diagnosed by Charlie Manuel as "stomach issues". The Phils lost pretty heavily to their NL East rivals last night...

The Phils finally end their losing streak with the Braves, as Hamels five-hits Atlanta, leading to a 3-0 win.

Cole Hamels five-hit the Braves as the Phils finally end their losing streak with Atlanta, winning 3-0. The Phils took a quick 1-0 lead in the first as Dom Brown hits an RBI double, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had started the inning off with a double. Two batters later, with Brown still on second base, and now with one man out, Ryan Howard hits a two-run home run, his fifth home...

Uggla comes to the rescue in win over Philly

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Dan Uggla hit a tiebreaking three-run double in the seventh after Tim Hudson blew a five-run lead and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 12-6 Wednesday night. Ryan Howard's three-run homer off Hudson during a five-run fifth tied it at 6, but the wild card-leading Braves scored four runs after Antonio Bastardo (2-4) got the first two outs in...

Braves beat Phils again, head to Big Apple

Dan Ugga’s looks to be emerging from a deep and prolonged slump. The Philadelphia Phillies are no longer the team to beat in the National League East and the Braves know it. They may not need to beat the Phillies, but that hasn’t stopped them from kicking the Phillies while they are down. Monday night’s win against the Phillies was the Braves’ 7th consecutive win against...
