St. Louis Cardinals reliever Kyle McClellan is schedule to start a four week throwing program on Tuesday, according to the St. Louis Cardinals official team website.
McClellan has been on the disabled list since he last pitched on May 17th.
McClellan, who has had the dreaded Tommy John surgery once in his career, is dealing with elbow discomfort caused by small tears in his right throwing elbow.
The St. Louis area native is doing what he can to avoid having a second, more difficult Tommy John surgery and is hoping to return sometime in August.
McClellan has appeared in 16 games for the Cardinals this season, posting a 0-1 record, 5.30 ERA, and 1.34 WHIP in 18.2 innings pitched this season.
