Beleaguered Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Scott Kazmir has now been on the disabled list for well over a month, and while his return is not eminent, he has made some strides in his rehabilitation efforts. Kazmir gave up just one hit over 6 2/3 innings in his last start in extended spring training camp in Arizona, and is now on his way to Triple-A Salt Lake, where he will make a rehab start on Tuesday. On Saturday, LA Times writer Mike DiGiovanna reported that Kazmir could possibly come back to the Angels as a long reliever rather than as a starter. “No doubt, we need starting pitching depth, and we’re looking at him as a starter,” Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. “But I wouldn’t rule out anything.” With fifth starter Tyler Chatwood producing results, that possibility is clearly in play.
