Tonight's game was closer to what is expected of a series between the Rangers and the Red Sox as opposed to the Sox blowout win last night. Even though the Red Sox lost, John Lackey continues to add confidence to the strength of the roation. From the very beginning, Lackey had immediate control of his fastball. He also continues to display increased velocity from his previous years; clearly a very positive sign. Also, from the very first batter and onward, Lackey was "painting" the corners. On 108 pitches, Lackey hurled six innings, allowing five hits, one earned run, no walks, and striking out five. Overall, a very encouraging performance from Lackey against a strong AL contender in the Rangers. Offensively, it was great to see Pedroia add to his HR total, which now sits at four. Although he has been very consistent hitting at the plate, it would be nice to see Pedey add some power; especially batting from the three-hole. That may be just me staring at my fantasy numbers and hoping for more from Pedroia, but there's not much to complain about him.  Jarrod Saltalamacchia added a late RBI double, but it was too little too late. Elvis Andus's double in the seventh against Craig Breslow was the ultimate game-changer of this one. It was really too bad the bullpen couldn't hold up because Lackey was solid tonight versus a very strong club. The series finale is tomorrow, as Lester needs to step up and be the stopper for the Red Sox. Derek Holland takes the mound for the Rangers. First pitch is at 7:10pm. Boxscore
