Lance Berkman doesn't like to bite his tongue and many enjoy that aspect of the opinionated Texas Rangers designated hitter. However, many can easily become annoyed by Berkman's words. After reading Berkman's comments from Monday, it's unlikely that he's going to win over any Chicago Cubs fans. The Rangers begin a three-game series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday. Wrigley Field is the second oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball and the Cubs and the city of Chicago have recently agreed on 500 million worth of improvements. But that doesn't seem to impress Berkman. "If they're looking for a guy to push the button when they blow the place up, I'll do it," Berkman said of Wrigley Field, according to Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Berkman added: "Chicago's one of the worst places in baseball really for anything," he said. Wrigley Field is limited in space and isn't as fancy as the newer MLB venues. But the place is also respected by many fans who take summer vacations to Chicago just to watch a game in the historic ballpark. The 37-year-old Berkman probably won't get much work during the series being that the games are at a National League venue and the DH is not used. For his career, Berkman is hitting .215 with 12 homers and 42 RBIs in 289 plate appearances at Wrigley Field. This obviously isn't the first time Berkman has said something controversial. Before the 2011 season, Berkman, a member of the St. Louis Cardinals, said the Rangers were going to be an average team after they missed out on signing Cliff Lee to a long-term deal. The Rangers went on to reach the World Series before losing to Berkman's Cardinals in seven games that year. Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota

Rangers set to improve quickly when Neftali Feliz returns

Generally speaking, I'm of the notion that the loss of a starting pitcher for anything less than a couple months does not have that large an impact on a team.  However, if that starting pitcher is the missing piece that can turn a rotation from being top-five in the league to number one overall, things change.  Neftali Feliz has been on the disabled list since the start of...

As Rangers fans collectively hold their breath, hoping that they do not decide to trade...

CHICAGO (AP) -- Derek Holland pitched seven shutout innings, Adrian Beltre hit a two-run home run, and Craig Gentry made a diving catch in the ninth to end the game and preserve the Texas Rangers' 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night at a cold Wrigley Field. Holland (1-1) at one point retired nine straight against the Cubs, who have lost three straight games. The Rangers...

Matt Adams turns potential into reality for St. Louis Cardinals

When the St. Louis Cardinals waged their annual war with injuries last season as Allen Craig and Lance Berkman went on the disabled list within weeks of each other in May, the Cardinals needed a replacement, and their first choice was minor leaguer Matt Adams. Adams looked the part. He’s 6-foot-3-inches tall, weighs 260 pounds and hit 82 homeruns in his four years in the minor...
