Matt LaPorta was in a place called Kindrick Legion Field in the town of Helena in west-central Montana and about to do something he had never done before — bat in a professional baseball game.
It didn't long for the Charlotte High School graduate to show why the Milwaukee Brewers took him with the seventh pick of the first round of the June draft. The right-handed slugger cracked a homer in his first pro at-bat on July 30 in a game against the Missoula Osprey.
GO GO GATORS!!! He'll be ROY in the next two seasons for the Brewers.
