WASHINGTON-Adam LaRoche took care of the hitting, and Ross Detwiler handled the pitching as the Washington Nationals stopped a brief two-game losing streak Thursday night. LaRoche went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs, and Detwiler threw seven shutout innings as the Washington Nationals scored a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies . The Nationals dropped the first two games of the series and scored just two runs in doing so. But LaRoche hit a solo homer his first time up and singled twice after that. His first single also drove in a run as the Nationals (62-42) jumped in front 3-0 after three innings. "It was a good start for us, get a run on the board early, especially after the last two games where [we] had been pretty stagnant out there, not a lot going," LaRoche said. LaRoche has 20 homers and 64 RBIs with a .270 average, a big improvement from an injury-shortened 2011 season in which the first baseman played just 43 games. Manager Davey Johnson sai...
