Jarrod Dyson can still run, but throwing is out for a while. A MRI exam Friday detected that the Kansas City Royals outfielder has a strained right latissimus dorsi muscle. "That's what it shows," manager Ned Yost said. "We'll shut him down from throwing." Dyson said he believes the injury occurred Monday when he banged into the Fenway Park wall while making a catch. "I didn't feel a thing, but I kind of felt a little tightness on Tuesday," Dyson said. "On Wednesday, I really felt it. Right now, it's just day-to-day. It depends on how I feel. I'm still available to run." He said it hurts a little bit when he throws. "It doesn't bother me swinging," Dyson said. "It's not major-major, just a little soreness in there." Yost said the Royals do not have to put Dyson on the disabled list with major league rosters eligible to be expanded from 25 to 40 beginning Saturday. He said the Royals...

Young Royals offense brings hope for future

KANSAS CITY, MO - The virtual consensus among Royals fans and observers is that for the Royals to be a true playoff contender in 2013, they somehow will have to fix their starting rotation. No one can really dispute that, despite the rotation's improvement since jettisoning Jonathan Sanchez. But very few fingers have been pointed at the Royals' offense this year, despite...

De Vries, Twins open up series in Kansas City

The Kansas City Royals have spent the last month looking like a team that's poised to give contenders fits down the stretch. That's just what the woeful Minnesota Twins have done to them. The Royals can finish August with the AL Central's best record if they can finally figure out the visiting Twins on Friday night and record a season high-tying fourth straight win...

Prince Fielder tries to kill the Royals’ Mike Moustakas

Dear Mike Moustakas, By now you know that Prince Fielder is a rather large human being.  I would just like to apologize on behalf of Prince Fielder for his total lack of fundamentals playing first base.  It’s been show time and time and time (and time and time) again that Prince doesn’t provide many favors for anyone at first base.  A first baseman with average skills would...

Kansas City Royals Get Naughty In The Dugout

Our friends at GIFULMINATION were at it again tonight catching this hilarious moment of Kansas City Royals pitcher Aaron Crow giving the universal ******* motion while in the bullpen.  The Royals haven’t been good in years so being third in the division obviously is having its benefits for the team. I just wonder if he’s explaining what someone did to him or what he did to someone else?

Guthrie pitches Royals past Tigers for sweep

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Jeremy Guthrie became the latest Kansas City pitcher to give the Tigers fits. Guthrie pitched effectively into the eighth inning and Alex Gordon homered to lead the Royals over Detroit 2-1 on Thursday night for a three-game sweep. Kansas City roughed up Justin Verlander in the opener and won all three games by one run. "Close ballgames, high intensity...

Vasquez makes Twins debut against Royals

As well as the Kansas City Royals have played over the last month, particularly against their own division, they can't seem to figure out the Minnesota Twins. The Royals will try to avoid a three-game sweep and an eighth loss in nine games to the Twins on Sunday. An 18-11 stretch between July 31 and Aug. 30 helped Kansas City climb out of the American League cellar and it was...

Rafael Betancourt is Just Getting Laughable

There have been two players named Betancourt throughout the course of major-league history, and it just so happens that both of them are current. Far more has been written about Yuniesky Betancourt than Rafael Betancourt, even though Rafael has been around longer, and even though Yuniesky is terrible. But then, that’s kind of the reason. Yuniesky wasn’t supposed to be terrible...

Royals fall to Twins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Justin Morneau drove in two runs and Minnesota rookie Cole De Vries beat the Kansas City Royals again 3-1 on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader. De Vries (4-5) has four career victories and three of them are against the Royals. He limited the Royals to one run on seven hits, walked none and struck out three over 6 23 innings. De Vries has won...
