Rockies starter, Jhoulys Chacin, had a near-historic night on the mound against the Giants on Wednesday. The 25 year old starter took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning in Coors Field before Brandon Crawford lined a two out single to center field. This ended the threat of adding insult to injury as the Giants would eventually lose the game and the series to Colorado.
The Giants bats were unable to get anything going until Chacin exited the game in the eighth with nine strikeouts, two walks, a hit allowed and one unearned run on 108 pitches.
Wilton Lopez came in to hold a four run lead for the Rockies, although after inducing Hector Sanchez to ground out, he allowed a single to both Gregor Blanco and Marco Scutaro.
Left handed reliever, Josh Outman, came in to face Brandon Belt, who would drive in a run with a ground rule double to cut the lead down to three.
