Veteran left handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis has announced his retirement today via Twitter.
Earlier today, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports tweeted that Willis was apparently considering retirement.
The Orioles signed Willis to a Minor League deal back in March, and late in April they placed him on the restricted list for a brief period of time after leaving the team without permission.
Willis, 30, is 0-3 with a 8.53 ERA, 0.0 HR/9, 5.7 BB/9 and 5.7 SO/9 in 6.1 innings, four games, one start with the Orioles' Triple-A team. The left hander has a career record of 72-69 with a 4.17 ERA, 0.8 HR/9, 3.7 BB/9 and 6.8 SO/9 in 1,221.2 innings with the Marlins, Tigers, Diamondbacks and Reds.
