via mlb.com Whether you love his on-field decision or question a lot of his on-field decision making (hear hear), Jim Leyland is a very decent man.  Wednesday night after the Tigers clinched the American League Central division title, Leyland spoke with Fox Sports Detroit’s Mario Impemba in his manager’s office. Torii Hunter barged in on the interview and carried Leyland into the clubhouse so he could receive the non-alcoholic champagne shower the rest of the team was receiving.  Leyland enjoyed the bubbly for a less than a minute and even did what has become his patented Moonwalk (step aside, MJ) before exiting the locker room to re-join Impemba. As he has since 2006 when the Tigers made their first postseason run, Leyland got choked up as he thanked the fans of Detroit after a division or series-clinching win. As I said, you might not always agree with his game management, but you have to admire the respect and love he shows toward the people that pay his salary. Jimmy Leyland is a class act.

Tigers clinch AL Central, uncork champagne-soaked celebration

MINNEAPOLIS -- As his team sprayed champagne just feet away to celebrate yet another American League Central title, Detroit manager Jim Leyland fought back tears. As a baseball lifer, Leyland has had this type of success before. In fact, Wednesday marked the third straight division crown for his Tigers, capped by a 1-0 win over Minnesota at Target Field. Tigers' Leyland, Dombrowski building impressive legacy together

They once worked in Miami where Detroit is playing this weekend and Jim Leyland and Dave Dombrowski did quite well there. They won a World Series in 1997 a neat feat they have been trying to replicate since each agreed to help steer the Tigers. A question fitting to ask as the Tigers prepare for a closing series against the Marlins ahead of their fourth playoff run in eight seasons...
