April 16, 2012: Matt Wieters went 3-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI and powered the Baltimore Orioles to a 10-4 extra-innings victory over the Chicago White Sox. His second home run of the game was also his first career grand slam.

Line: 4 AB | 2 R | 3 H | 5 RBI; 2 HR | 2 BB

My fantasy perspective: Wieters came into the season as the fourth-ranked catcher and 82nd player overall on ESPN and already proving to be a bargain. With 10 games of the season in the books for the Orioles, Wieters is currently the second-ranked catcher and 24th player overall on ESPN Player Rater tool with a .344/5/4/9/0 5×5 fantasy baseball line.

He may finally be living up to the potential the Orioles and fantasy players have been waiting for since coming to the majors in 2009. Look for a .290/70/25/90/0 or better line come the end of the season. Check out Wieters’ preseason player projections from RotoChamp.com, too.
