BALTIMORE (AP) -- Tommy Hunter took a four-hitter into the eighth inning, Nick Markakis went 3 for 4 with a homer and the Baltimore Orioles cruised past the Minnesota Twins 8-2 Saturday night. Adam Jones and Matt Wieters also homered for the Orioles, who will seek to complete a three-game sweep on Sunday. Baltimore has won six straight over Minnesota by a combined score of 36-8. After beating the Twins 4-2 on opening day, the Orioles went up 6-0 against Francisco Liriano (0-1) after four innings and coasted to the finish. Markakis homered in a second straight game, Ronny Paulino got four hits and scored twice in his Baltimore debut and Robert Andino contributed two hits and two RBIs. Hunter (1-0) was in control until the eighth, when the Twins used an error and two singles to load the bases with no outs. Pedro Strop then yielded run-scoring grounders to Jamey Carroll and Joe Mauer. Hunter gave up six hits and no earned runs in seven-plus innings. The right-hander walked one and struck out three. It was a solid follow-up to the opening day performance by Baltimore starter Jake Arrieta, who pitched seven scoreless innings. Liriano allowed six runs and eight hits in four innings. He struck out the side in the first, but things quickly went sour after that. Jones hit an opposite-field drive leading off the second and Baltimore added two runs in third. Paulino singled and scored when Josh Willingham misplayed Andino's single to left. Nolan Reimold followed with an infield hit and Andino came home on a double-play grounder. The Orioles made it 6-0 in the third. A walk to Mark Reynolds and a double by Paulino preceded a two-run single by Andino and an RBI single by Reimold. Markakis and Wieters hit solo shots off Jared Burton in the seventh. NOTES: Twins RHP Liam Hendriks was scratched from Sunday's start because of food poisoning. Camden selling 'bacon on a stick'

Camden Yards just became the premier destination for all baseball (and food) fans. They're now offering "bacon on a stick."

Liriano makes first start of year vs. Orioles

On the 20th anniversary of the opening of Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the Baltimore Orioles rekindled the magic of the stadium that set the standard for all future ballparks. The Orioles hope to keep the magic - and winning - going Saturday as they continue their season-opening series against the Minnesota Twins. Baltimore got the 2012 season started right with a 4-2 victory over...

Dylan Bundy Dominant In Pro Debut

So, maybe Dylan Bundy should have been started above low-A ball. In his pro baseball debut, for the Delmarva Shorebirds, Bundy pitched 3 perfect frames (they're trying to limit his innings). He struck out 6, and apparently threw 21 out of 21 pitches* for strikes (that's 100%, which seems pretty good). Even though he's coming from high school, he's already 19 and is...

Markakis and Arrieta Help Orioles Win on Opening Day

It was a glorious Opening Day for the Baltimore Orioles as they defeated the Minnesota Twins, 4-2, on a sunny Friday afternoon at a sold-out Camden Yards. As we all know, twenty years ago, Camden Yards opened to the public and not only has become an indelible part of the city, but also helped transform the landscape of baseball. The pre-game ceremony by the Orioles’ production...

Sansevere: Twins are thick with plot lines

"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball." That's a line from "Field of Dreams." And, with another baseball season starting, it's a line that applies to the Twins. The one constant through all the years since 1991 has been that the Twins come up short. They came up way short last season, losing 99 games. They won't come up...

Familiar look early, but new season for Twins

The Minnesota Twins opened their season on Friday able to finally start with a clean slate after last year's disappointing 63-99 record. Three batters into the bottom of the first inning and the look of the season-opener had a certain dj vu feeling. Former Twin J.J. Hardy had walked and Nick Markakis followed with a one-out, two-run home run to put Minnesota in a 2-0 hole. ...

Twins RHP Hendriks scratched with food poisoning

Minnesota Twins right-hander Liam Hendriks has been scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Baltimore Orioles with food poisoning. Hendriks was admitted to a Baltimore-area hospital on Saturday morning and held for observation, according to manager Ron Gardenhire. Barring further complications, Hendriks will be released Sunday. Long reliever Anthony Swarzak will start...

Orioles 4, Twins 2

Jake Arrieta pitched seven scoreless innings, Nick Markakis homered and drove in three runs, and the Baltimore Orioles marked the 20th anniversary of the opening of Camden Yards by defeating the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Friday. Making his first opening day start, Arrieta (1-0) allowed two hits, struck out four and walked two in a 97-pitch performance reminiscent of the gem that Rick...

Game 2: Orioles vs. Twins

The Orioles picked up their usual Opening Day win yesterday, and are tied for first place in the AL East. There is Hope for the O’s

If you would have told me that the Baltimore Orioles would sweep the Minnesota Twins in their opening series and their starting pitchers would throw 22 innings and only allow 1 run, I would have told you to put down the case of Natty Boh. Starting pitching is the biggest concern for the Orioles this year as they had seemingly downgraded the position after trading away Jeremy Guthrie...

Twins' Hendriks remains in hospital

Minnesota Twins right-hander Liam Hendriks remained hospitalized Sunday with an apparent case of food poisoning.
