New York Mets
The Miami Marlins put an end to their six game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Playing with the roof open at Marlins Park for the first time since April, Miami was able to move into a third place tie with the idle New York Mets. The Marlins are now 3-7 in June.
Josh Johnson continued his run of terrific starts with a seven inning effort in which he only allowed one run to a star studded Boston lineup. The Marlins’ ace struck out seven and walked one while improving to 4-4 on the season. The seven strikeouts did inflate Johnson’s pitch count forcing the right-hander to throw 116 pitches in his seven innings on the mound. Steve Cishek picked up his seventh hold of the year with a scoreless eighth. For Cishek, it was a good sign following two recent poor appearances. Heath Bell continued his resurgence as one of the elite closers in the game with a scoreless ninth in which he struck out the side. Bell earned his 13th save of the sea...

MIAMI (AP) -- Miami Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez has been recalled from Triple-A New Orleans and is back in the lineup.
Sanchez was batting .197 with one home run in 36 games when he was demoted May 19. He was recalled before Sunday's game against Tampa Bay and was batting sixth.
In 19 games with New Orleans, Sanchez hit .310 with three home runs and 10 RBIs.
Miami Marlins right-hander Carlos Zambrano says his stiff lower back feels much better, less than 24 hours after he had to leave a game in the third inning.
Zambrano, who has had back trouble before, said he began the game Saturday in discomfort and then aggravated the problem. He departed after allowing seven runs in 2 1-3 innings against Tampa Bay and took the loss, which left...
What's Josh Johnson's problem? When the Marlins ace was asked about Josh Beckett, he expressed admiration for his former teammate, admitting he was a legend... almost. Almost? What else does Beckett have to do, Josh? NESN Nation's Dan Duquette has more in the video above. Join NESN Nation: In-game home page | Twitter | Facebook
Mark Buehrle was magnificent for the Miami Marlins outside of one inning but that was enough for the Boston Red Sox who won 2-1 on Tuesday. The loss moved the Marlins to 3-8 in June as they continued to bring back memories of June 2011. Miami is now back in fourth place in the division and has also fallen six games behind the fist place Washington Nationals after starting...
The Marlins' new ballpark, for better or for worse, gets people talking. People always seem to have an opinion about Fenway Park, too, although the two stadiums won't often be compared in the same sentence. Nevertheless, NESN Nation's Dan Duquette asked our Twitter followers if there was anything about Marlins Park that fans wouldn't mind seeing back in Boston. Check...
MIAMI (AP) -- Carlos Zambrano, one of baseball's best-hitting pitchers, is now under orders to cool it in batting practice.
Zambrano complained of a stiff back in his most recent start Saturday, and manager Ozzie Guillen said lusty swings can't help.
Zambrano is a career .239 hitter with 24 home runs, including one this season. He's expected to make his next scheduled...
Right-hander Carlos Zambrano insists he will be ready for his next start Friday in Tampa -- even though he was taken out of his start Saturday night with one out in the third inning because of lower back stiffness. Zambrano, who allowed seven runs in a 13-4 loss to the Rays, said he came to the park Saturday in discomfort but decided to pitch anyway. "I learned something...

The Miami Marlins' retractable roof is open for their game against the Boston Red Sox, a surprising development with South Florida's steamy rainy season under way.
A high-pressure system brought unusually dry weather to the area, and half an hour before Monday's night game started, workers at the Marlins' new ballpark opened the roof, treating fans to clear skies...
Clay Buchholz outpitched Mark Buehrle and the Boston Red Sox beat the Miami Marlins 2-1 Tuesday night, ending a four-game losing streak.
The game was scoreless until Kelly Shoppach hit an RBI double in the seventh inning and came home on a single by Mike Aviles.

The Tuesday Takeaway
Yesterday’s takeaway from the series between the Red Sox and the Marlins in Miami was Josh Johnson’s return to form. After Tuesday’s 2-1 Boston victory, perhaps the same can be said of Clay Buchholz.
The 27-year-old Buchholz was dreadful from the start of the season through May 21. He coughed up seven runs in four innings to the Tigers on April 8 and...
