The Miami Marlins put an end to their six game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday.   Playing with the roof open at Marlins Park for the first time since April, Miami was able to move into a third place tie with the idle New York Mets.   The Marlins are now 3-7 in June.

Josh Johnson continued his run of terrific starts with a seven inning effort in which he only allowed one run to a star studded Boston lineup.   The Marlins’ ace struck out seven and walked one while improving to 4-4 on the season.     The seven strikeouts did inflate Johnson’s pitch count forcing the right-hander to throw 116 pitches in his seven innings on the mound.  Steve Cishek picked up his seventh hold of the year with a scoreless eighth.    For Cishek, it was a good sign following two recent poor appearances.   Heath Bell continued his resurgence as one of the elite closers in the game with a scoreless ninth in which he struck out the side.   Bell earned his 13th save of the season.

The Marlins scored all four of their runs in the first two innings off their former teammate, Josh Beckett.    Nearly every starter had a hit with the two exceptions being Hanley Ramirez and Chris Coghlan.     Donovan Solano stayed hot knocking in two more runs while filling in for Omar Infante at second base.     In all, the Marlins put together six hits with one of the extra base variety as Logan Morrison picked up his eighth double of the season.

Miami will try to win a second in a row on Tuesday when Mark Buehrle is scheduled to take on Clay Buchholz.
